Sounds like your running rich. The princible for tuning the needles is the same for using a screw driver lefty loosey (richens the truck) righty tighty (leans the truck).

use the traxxas med super duty long plug and retune. It sounds like your tune is off. Your plugs should last at least a half gallon with a good tune. That has been my eperience. I have also had horrible luck with mccoy plugs.

RE: issues
Your temps should be between about 240-270... But you cant always tune by temps you want to make sure you have a good smoke trail and good acceleration i think is the rule of thumb for tuning...Correct me if im wrong..
You also might want to consider sealing up your 3.3 before you even drop it in.. It sounds like the people on here that havnt had tuning problems with their trx engines are the ones that have theirs sealed up...i mean thats not going to be 100% awesome tune but i mean its not hard and since your already have the engine out why not right?? Im getting ready to seal up my 2.5 because i cant seem to get it to hold a tune..Hopefully i just have an airleak....

how do u seel an engine?
how do u seel an engine?
To seal a engine; u can use something called air-seal, or even better yet and more widely available; use sensor-safe silicone to seal the carb, engine backplate(around the outer edge of the backplate), and seal the edges around the high and low speed needles; just make sure none gets inside of the needles because it can and most likely will clog the needles preventing fuel from flowing through the needle assembly.

Well dont quite "yank" on them or u might put a hole in them or something, but gently pull on them, they should pop right off the fuel inlets they are pushed onto. As for gettign them back on just the reverse goes, just gently push them back on, in some instances u might have to use just a very small amt of force to get it back on, but nothing very hard....and at that point u should be good to go. Hope this helps ya. [8D]
