Default Maxx 3.3 Steering Servo Upgrade

I keep going through the stock 2055 Steering Servos on my Maxx[:@], Im running IMEX 7" K-Rock Crawler tires and a Full Cage, so I have some extra weight to push around, is there any Good Servos with a lot of Torque, whether it is a Metal Gear Servo or Plastic Gear Servo, I want one that will last, something with a High Torque Rating and one I can just install onto the truck and go Bash. Thanks in Advance.

heres some pics from yesterday (camera phone)

Well since i sold my 1/8th scale Cen GST i took the servos off of there before i sold it and put it on my maxx. i have a jr z9100t which has 370oz at 6v and that thing is a beast. Worked great on my CEN truck so it is a little bit of overkill with the tmaxx! never ever have had a problem with it and it has always spun my wheels. from my understanding though anything with around 200oz of torque will work for your application. If you don't have much money there is some servos on ebay that sell for like 20$ for two including shipping from China called mg995 or somtn like that. They are low quality but if you constantly breaking servos you should try them since they are cheap to replace.

money isnt really an issue, but im not going to spend a ballistic amount on a servo, I've heard Hitec MG Servos are good.

Throw a Hitec 5955 on it and be done with it. Find a used one if you dont want to spend the full price.

Airtronics 94358 or 94359 (heatsink model) both are 200 oz / .10 @6V or the newer 94361 but you may not need that extra speed, .07 @6V

Best servos I have owned

I haven't no.

For $70, I would seriously look for the 94358, prob one of the best servos you can put in your truck.

Are you using a servo saver?

I would try to get something stronger than the 985mg. It would be borderline suffiecient on a stock Maxx but with the added weight of your cage and youe oversize tires you really should stay at 200 oz. or higher. And you should get a heavy duty servo saver, Eg. Kimbrough HD gas car version (the black one), if your Maxx doesn't have the integrated bellcrank servo saver. Also metal gears are a must for this type of application. You will also have better luck with with one of the four major maufacturers (Hitec, Futaba, JR, and Airtronics)

that looks like a really nice fast servo and a good choice for the servo saver too. Doesn't the 3.3 come with a servo saver already on the bellcrank?

no it comes with one on the servo itself, I ordered a Kimbrough Servo Saver for the Servo also. Are the Airtronics servos Waterproof or Dustproof? it didnt say in the description, the Hitec 985 was, if its not then I still have silicone and o-rings to waterproof it with.

my Airtronics 94358 came in today so I installed it and hooked up the Stock traxxas servo saver to it, and let me say I was impressed with how much torq this servo has, I had the Maxx on the kitchen table and could turn the tires both ways with no trouble at all even with all that dead weight. Took it out for a test drive and am very happy with how the servo preforms, it turns much quicker and easier than with the 2055 servo. Thanks to all who reccommended it! I will let you all know when my Proline steering kit comes in and how that works for me.

Good to hear, it's an incredible servo and it's thirsty. A good high capacity batt (5C hump) is prob the best, I have two in mine and it consumes regular AA's in about 6 tanks of fuel.still has power but wont turn the wheels all the way when sitting after about that time.

im still running the stock t-maxx hump pack(5 cell) and I havent had a chance to take it out and bash that muhc yet. I got the Proline Steering Kit in today and installed it, its pretty nice but Ill have to see how good it is when I get a chance to bash.
