Default 3.3 or big block

I' ve had my revo 3.3 for a couple of months now and i was wondering was it a good idea to put a big block in it and if so what is the best one to put in there. I have talked to some people and they say u can tune the 3.3 engine and it run just as good as a big block. But if I thought if i tune a big block just as good then there would be a big difference. Well if anyone can give me some feed back i would appreciate it.

i have this stock 3.3 revo and i did speed testing and tuning, check the pics for speed attained...i have one time 52 mph registered in the radar but i can get it again so i didn't consider it,,,but i realized later that i'm only running in 130-160 ft. strip, maybe if i give more room to run i can get more speed...maybe u'l change ur mind of getting big block

Bottom line is what do you want?? If you like low end power full of monster torque you will not ever get that out of a small block like you will a big block period. Heck I can change the spur gear and clutch bell and get all the top speed I want or low end. The low end will still never compare to a big block Picco or RB 523 though. If it's raw power you want then you do want a big block period. Trust me. And again you can gear it the way you like. My big block Revo I had was the most ungodly monster filled torque producer that you will never or can't even imagine until you drive one. I said it beofre but I'll say it again. My Revo could be in second gear at a higher speed and I could let off the throttle really fast and then drill it again instantly and flip it over from a wheelie. Have never seen a small block do it like that. This is my opinion and experience and others might agree or not but thats ok becouse eveyone has their favorites. It's all up to you but I would say big block all the way hands down if you want power and torque that you can't even begin to imagine until you get one. Of course you need to be able to tune it properly to get that wicked a** power. I'm going back to a big block after running my OS tm .21 for a while I think myself becouse they are the cats a** !!!!

i totally agree with sb13... its all in what YOU want... if you want more torque and power go big block... if you want low end, consider Picco or RB... personally, i am going to get the Picco .26 Max Red Dot... in due time.. as i cant afford that right now... i am looking forward to getting my 'new' 3.3 soon and see how that works out for me... but like sb13 said, its all in what YOU want... do a little research and see what you come up with...

My point to the T and with more low end torque to boot. Thats why although the speeds on the speed gun were nice it did'nt mean as much to me and I mean no disrespect but we can all gear our trucks to hit those speeds if we really wanted.

the speed in radar gun is from pure bonestock 3.3 revo, i did that testing to prove what the traxxas claimed speed and they're right about it, they say 45 mph+ out of the box...a tuned 3.3 is no far from big expensive block in performance, money wise big block is no much.

IMO too much torque is []no fun drivin' always end up flipping, picking it up and breaking the body/ parts.,

this is the non red dot picco .26 and this is why you get a big block and the red dot will be a few mph faster because it revs almost 4k more .

Yup! That's my Revo right there! lol. I'm running a Picco P3 .28 now. I think the Picco .26 max red dot will probably out rev it though. Are there any videos of the red dot?

i will have to make one after i break mine in if it ever stops raining . 55 this is the red dot i got and for 224 it comes with a mount then all you have to get is a integy 34 and 36 spurs and a few clutch bells i have a 17 19 and 20 ,right now i am running the 36 t spur and a rrp 19 t clutch bell and it meshes just right stock is 40t 15t so 36 in is -4 spur + 4 clutch bell so the mesh is the same as stock and for more speed i run a rrp 43t 38t wide trannie over the revo platinum close trannie . and revo mad that is funny that that is your car .

this one comes with a free mount

I would definitely say go for the big block because overall, u are gonna get more power, and more torque out of a big block than the 3.3 will give; even though granted yes, the 3.3 will come close to certain big blocks

Yes, it was. Thats pretty cool using a actual radar gun to radar the truck's actual speed!!! [8D]
