Oh and I did move the aileron servo hole up one bay and in one to make for a better fit for the servo ..makes the push rod a little longer but more room and I can line the servo up for a straight push on the aileron control horn.

Tim: No I think I will use Ultra coat ..never got into painting... may use Yellow, dark Blue and Gray ... Or Red, White and Gray.

I checked out MECOA and the 6150 is $149.99 with tuned muffler and 2.0 HP, The 6170 is $199.00 for the pair at 1.8 HP, I didnt know those eng's. had that kind of power especially for the price, The 6170 would be a good choice too, RIGHT ?
Ive been looking at my plan's and I have some ideals, but I want to think them through before I run them across you.
I like that F7F Tigercat !

Thinking some more about it, if you move the firewalls back and use smaller tanks the FA-65 engines just might work fine. Six ounce tanks should still give you more than ten minutes flight time.

Yes, the 6170 "Twister" is the engine I mentioned, and it would be more than sufficient forthe Duellist 2/40 airplane. You will not want for power. Or, you caould go for the 6150 pair and another $100, that will take you to the moon.

Ya ! I just had a little experience with painting and It was a bad one, It turned out good, but not as well as I wanted. On the other hand its going to be hard getting around all those curves the Duellist has.

Six propellor blades, 28 cylinders blasting into 28 straight pipes, and 5600 cubic inches of engine all screaming away at thesame time is hard to forget. And 400 gallons per hour of 115/145 avgas at full throttle. Fantastic plane, and a beautiful one.

And you just might manage a good bash, Duellist to Tigercat. But they're a lot different, not only is the Tigercat a mid wing, the wing would have to be moved a good bit to the rear and the nacelles moved out on the wings to get there.

Picture at the top left, an F7F in process, top right is a finished one with a non-scale nose gear. Center row is a pair of Duellists for comparison.

Bottom left is my Tiggerkitty, a "Sort-of" F7F. The bottom right is the most scale F7F modwl I've ever seen. Note the nose strut.

Antway, if you want to do it, it can be done. A lot of work.

I am enjoying the SD build post, even though there is some hijacking going on.
I was one of the 50 that got a SD kit, but it is still in the box yet.
Right now I am working on my TwinAir. This is my first twin. I also have a Duellist 2-40 which will be twin #2.
It looks as if everyone was waiting for someone else to find the irregularities in the kit.
I'll be watching with much interest.

I didn't know there was a Tiger Kitty, Thats nice, and thats the color scheme I want to do.
I haven't made any decisions yet because I haven't even started, But I am going to copy the Tigercat, not completely scale, I don't want to get to far from the original plan's because I just don't know enough about twin eng. planes. and I don't want to forget that the Duellist design is supposed to be like a beginner plane with twins.
Right now I just got plan's to round the bottom of the fuse. Round off the nacelles and move them back for two reasons, To look more like the Tigercat and so maybe I can get it to balance with my Saito .65's.
Also go a little higher with the rudder and rounding off the rudder and elevator.
So its not going to be scale at all, just semi.
What is the wingspan of your Tiger kitty, I like it, Is it a kit or scratch build?

Never was a "Real" Tiggerkitty. Note two G's in the name. For Pooh-bear's companion, the Tigger.

It's 34" span, two 0.061 engines, scratch built. True scratch, I never drew a plan for it, just started and that's what came out. Didn't even have a picture when I started, but got some before it was done.

I did ask Bill to add his pearls of wisdom to this thread as he has a TON of experience with the Duellist which helps drive up the interest for this kit in any size or shape ...besidies its a good filler to the thread as I build kinda slow [X(].

Greg one of the items I did find out from Bill that I have not seen posted on the 2/60 is the C/G .... 5 to 5 1/2" from the LE of the wing ( correct me if I am wrong Bill ) With large wing tip blocks 2x2 a person will be able to hollow out a very nice trench for lateral weight.

Which brings a question to mind Bill? what has been the tip weight to offset the twin engines?.

The two wing half's done just cleaning up around W1 to get a perfect fit ..need to put some plugs in the end of the wing tube ...check for correct alignment ( for the 20 time ) and glue the center together.

I am very much open to corrections, suggestions and criticisms on the built so feel free to jump in anytime.

Hmmm the top wing skin is going to be fun to put on has anyone have a idea how best to glue on? I was pondering using contact glue as there is a lot of hidden surface that I want to make contact with ..just have to be very careful on laying it down Hmmmmm?

Well, the beer will stay cooler that way. I'll have to send a pic of my model storage problem one of these days.

As far as laying down the top sheet, Use aliphatic glue on the ribs and slow CA on the spars and then lots of weight (or pins) to ensure the sheeting stays down on the ribs. That's the method I have always used. ZAP also has some CA called Sheeting CA, it has a very slow set time, like 5 minutes. I used that on my MiG and it worked good, too.

My way for lateral balance is to complete the wing construction except cfor covering and the tips. On a plane with a long wing just the difference in hollowing the two tips is sometimes sufficient, even with both engine cylinders pointed the same way.

With the engines and servos, tanks, etc mounted, hollow the right tip (assuming the cylinxders are on the right), set the hollowed r/h tip on the right end of the wing, and set the shaped but not hollowed tip on the left wing tip, and go from there.
