In a moment of boredom, I picked up my Twinstar and thought...Hmmmmmmmm. ...how about some more power? That would mean buying at least one more engine, so why not bolt one that I already have on the nose???? I know it has been done before....but with a mixture of 2 strokes and 4 strokes??????????? Two OS 26 fourstrokes on the wings, and an OS 25FX in the nose ! The installation was pretty easy..Hobbico even left a vacant servo mount for the new throttle servo! the center fuel tank went over the cg..the battery got exchanged for a bigger, heavier one and moved as far back in the fuselage as I could fit it....it still required 8 oz of lead on the tail.
But it flies!!....and flies great - even with the increased weight... the climbout is something else!! Big loops are now possible, and snap roll...WOW!!!! Not for the faint of heart, but it sure is fun to fly!!! Now that I know it works, I'll clean it up a bit...and take some close up pictures... for now you have to be satisfied with this "spy photo"......
One benefit noted tonight...two flights...two engine outs.......and it didn't matter!! It still flies well on any two................

Ed...it is even easier than a twin..as long as any 2 of the engines stay running, assymetrical thrust is minimal......I've always thought that a triple would be a great training platfrom for multis.......It was the first flight for the new-to-me 2 stroke. It wasn't quite tuned right, and it went to sleep on the maiden flight. On the second flight, the pressure line slipped off the muffler on one of the .26's and it died...I never even noticed it til short final....
Rich, it sounds "busy"...if you know what I mean
. I have the center engine throttle hooked up to the slider lever at the side of the transmitter, so all kinds of weird things ar possible now... with the outboards throttled back, the center engine can maintain flight and even climb a little bit. with the center engine throttle back, the two little 26's have to be at full bore to over come the extra drag.... Anyways, by playing with the throttles, the sound can be changed in flight....

Okay, here it is now that I have got the cowl on the front engine, and re-attached. or removed that cheap trim that keeps peeling off..... Due to the condition of the covering, I didn't make any attempt to make it beautiful - it is what it is...but is sure flies nice now.......!!!
