C 130 flight characteristics
Does anyone know how flying the C 130 compares to the C 160 Transall? Of couse this assumes that all engines (or motors) are running properly. Thanks in advance. Skip D

Hey Capt Crackup,
Check out the ASM C-130 100" thread, apparently it does have a nasty slow speed stall, the pilot hadn't done high alt. stalls and wasn't aware of the tendency. Real shame too, very nice looking plane.

RE: C 130 flight characteristics
Yeah I saw that. I currently fly a C 160 with La 25s and it flies great. It also has a nasty stall. But I fly it like a C 160 and not a extra or a quickee 500. My point is if you want to do pylon turns, then perhaps you should get a pylon plane. Which leads me to the question. If you fly it like a lumbering military cargo aircraft,,,,,how does it compare to the Transall.
Thanks Skip D

RE: C 130 flight characteristics
hey schwatd, Here is my Transall. It now has a easy 40 plus flights and flying better all the time. I am thinking it is very similar to the C 130. Also note the second video appears to be many flights edited together, it is actually 2.

Very nice flights. I like slow lumbering cargo planes, they look like they should fall out of the sky. Kind of gives them a mystic about defying gravity.

RE: C 130 flight characteristics
Thanks......and I agree, at times they do appear as if they should be falling at any moment. Who would think flying a laboring cargo ship would be as fun as it is. I like to think that I am pretty good at general airbatics, barnstorming and tearing up the sky. And at times I like it. But wiggling the sticks and keeping a heavy, lumbering airplane smooth can be challenging and very satisfying. Oh by the way, I definately see a C 130 in my near future. Skip D

RE: C 130 flight characteristics
I have both the C-160 Transall and a Quality Fiberglass C-130. I find they both fly very similar. I have found no bad habits in either of them- yet. The Transall to me flies like a trainer, just with two engines. The best thing about both of them is the very scale looking take offs and landings, which is as much fun as actually flying it around the sky.
