DUAL BATTERY INSTALLATION FOR TWIN
I want to install two 5 cell 6V. batteries for redundancy in a twin that I am completeing. I am running a JR R700 Rx with 5 servos. One is a JR 821 (digital) for the rudders and the other 4 are your normal JR 537 servos.
Can I plug one battery into the auxillary slot and the other in the normal BATT slot? If not, what is the best way to run dual batteries for safety's sake?
Thanks
Jim

Jim, Yes you can put the extra battery on any empty connector on your reciever. This is better than a single battery but if you use a battery backer such as the ESM http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAFN0&P=0
It is a bit better in that it will take a bad battey out of the system when it fails and fly off the one good one. Smart Fly makes one too plus I am sure other that I don't know about. still two batteries are better than one. I have several planes like that but I do run a seperate switch on each battery for additional backup and for easier charging. Another cool one that I have been looking at is a battery backer like the ESM one and two switches with charge jacks all built into one.

I use the EDR-108 Pow'R Back'R. It works great for me. I have one in all my planes.
Here is a link to the Backer: http://electrodynam.com/rc/EDR-108/index.shtml
They show a diagram of the setup...
The problem with just plugging 2 into the reciever is that if one has a short it will pull both battery packs down causing loss of all power. This backer pulls the bad pack off line....

RE: DUAL BATTERY INSTALLATION FOR TWIN
Thank all of you for your answers. I agree I think the EDR or tower system is the way to go. I could not get the fromeco link to work.
Will check it out later.
Thank You
