Default Looking into twins...

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has tried the twin from RCM plans where a flyer converted a Super Sportster 40 into a twin engine low wing trike plane for two 25's?? The wing was made wider and he states that the plane actually has a better glide than the original single engine Sportster! Am I better off just ordering an Twin-Air or would the Seagull work as well?? There is a Seagull twin at our field and it flys easy and lands as slow as a standard low wing sport plane. [8D]

A lot of those twin Sportsters were built when the article first came out. Including mine. It was a gorgeous airplane and very easy to fly. I had engine problems because I didn't isolate the fuel tanks and the fuel frothed. Lots of dead sticks, but no crashes. A friend had one on floats. That worked well too.

I have a Super Sportster 120 that I'm eventually going to convert to a twin using two 91 four strokes. I'll use the original twin plans, blown up at Kinkos.

Thankx for the feedback Jim! The Sportster 120 twin sounds awesome!! I am sure that we would love to see pics of it when its completed. I am leaning toward build the Sportster 40 twin as my winter project! [8D]

Question for Jim, I picked up the Super Sportster 40 kit and ordered the plans. The plans haven't come in yet but I was was wondering if there any changes to be made to the basic fuselage or can I go ahead and start building that part??

The only changes to the fuselage involve the nose blocks and the vertical fin. The basic fuselage is not changed.
