Twin engines with reverse rotation
This may be old news but while helping someone out with getting Enya parts, I came across this, http://www.enya-engine.com/ReverseEngineList_E.html

Amazingly, they even provide the props.
And it also appears that they offer reverse cranks for you to convert your stock engine.

MVVS also supplies reverse rotation cranks, Fox did..not sure now,, If you own the older Super Tigres, with the bolt on front crank case, you can rotate the front housing 90 degrees and it will happily run in reverse. Zinger also makes reverse rotation props as does Master and APC.

Another reverse crank is the Veco .19.
Each pictured beside a K&B .21 crank that was stuffed into a dieselized version of this engine.

And Cox offered a reverse crank for their TD .049. Pictured are a pair of VA .049s into which a stock and a reverse, Cox crank was installed. Both run identical to each other at 17K on a 6 X 3 prop.

These are actually the VA MK1 engines, AAN style with the split cases. They never did come with throttles. The throttles are from the Wasp .06 with adjustable air bleeds added. No twin needles.
The Russian made, VA MK1 was the first, new 1/2A to come along that used modern, AAN and schneurle porting. Essentially, miniature versions of today's modern engines. The G-Mark, from Japan was also a very neat, small 1/2A engine but it used construction similar to Cox engines, A ball socket conrod and a steel, screw in cylinder. Pictured below.
There was, of course, the American made Shuriken but it was quite expensive, somewhat heavy and didn't stay on the market very long.

OS also produced a reverse cam for either the OS FS-61 or the OS FS-60, I forget which. I bought some of these engines new and much later a reverse cam from Robert Lamoreaux.

I have a pair of MVVS .49 engines for a Twin-Air .49 plane. I run with a crankshaft timed for reverse rotation. The MVVS even let you decide the direction of the exhaust port (left, right or rear).

K&B .61's just buy new counter rotating crank, They still produce them, this is what I plan on using for my Royal p-38. K&B has always been a great reliable motor! You can even find these with perry pump & carbs on ebay.

Older ST front bolt houseing unbolt turn left 90 deg.Looking from the front. Rebolt and start in reverse with prop of choice.

NO, the cranks allow them to spin in reverse, you would need a cranks machined for those to make them spin in reverse

See the picture. You will notice that the crank on the left side is normal and the one on the right side has the intake port cut opposite allowing reverse rotation when using that crank. Because the LA does not have the front portion bolted to the case, you can't just flip it 90 degrees. Therefore, you need to use a special, reverse crank.

I assume, since you have pictures of crank that you know how I can get one or have mine remachined. Whoever does this must rebalance it for you too, yes?

A crank can't be remachined, I'm afraid. You have to buy engines where the manufacturer offers a reverse crank or a reverse engine, ready to go.
You might consider the MVVS .49s as mentioned by RCer.

Thank you for the information. Do you know why a crank can't be machined?
I owned a couple machine shops, one being a precision grinding house and haven't seen very many exeptions to a part being able to be re-worked (anealed, welded, etc. I will be the first to admit there are a lot of things I don't know (the older I get, the more I realize it) Your input is valuable and I apreciate it. I'm willing to risk a few dollars to try it unless you know some that have tried and it hasn't worked. I'm not trying to be contrary, just one who has to know why.

I'm sure that anything is possible but the work involved and the risk of failure for technical reasons would be high, I think.
If one were determined to use the two LAs, the only viable thing that I can see would be to make a new crank from scratch but with a left hand, port. Then you have issues of hardening without getting too brittle, etc. No doubt such things can and have been done but a lot of work and skill would be involved not to mention the required machinery.
If you still have access to the machinery, and venture such a project, I'm sure that those on this forum would be much pleased to follow your progress in such a worthy task.
