Default Engines for a Duellist

Just getting to the point in building my duellist that I need to get the engines inthere. I was trying to decide on a pair of engines and wanted some input. I am between piped os 46 ax's or piped thunder tiger pro 46's. I am also open to other suggestions, I want this one to haul *****, but also want exelent reliability.

I have had several Duelists over the years and currently have the Cox ARF. I have unpiped OS 45AX's. Very fast and completely reliable.

Try to find a matched set of old OS .46SF's. They made a R version that was counter rotating, made for a great set up with spring air retracts. I was stupid and sold one of the two sets I had, the remaining set is in a Twin Kaos...

Great airplane. I fly around the local club field at less than 50% power on OS 46's. It is a rather small field and covers it quickly. At full power, it smokes across the field, and just have to turn it back around. I suggest 46's just for the pure versatility and power. It is a head turner every time it goes up! Whatever you go with, break them in well and have them rigged as equal as you can.

Good luck

Thanks guys, I decided to go with the thunder tiger pro 46 with macs pipes. I will be putting boca bearings high speed bearing in them once they are broken in on the stock mufflers. Any idea on the pipe length for this motor?
Also, I was wanting to know if there is any single engine airframe out there that flys like the duellist (engine break in platform.)

A Kaos is good for that...

I'm going to use O.S. 40SF 's. I have one thats well broken in and the most reliable engine I've ever owned. It'll turn 13,600 on 15% with an APC 10x6 prop and stock muffler. I picked up another, brand new, off fleabay recently and am now in the process of breaking it in. I agree with Evan-RCU. Those old SF engines are bullet-proof if you can find 'em!

Tower still stocks a counter-rotating crankshaft for the O.S. 40/46SF but I'm not sure I want the hassle of counter-rotating props. Prop clearance isn't great on the Duellist and I may want to go with a three-bladed prop at some point. A "pusher" three-bladed prop sounds like it would be expensive and hard to find. (I tend to eat a lot of props!)
