kmp dc3 due november 30th i just ordered one
anyone have some more info on the kmp dc3.
anyone with prior experience with fully composite planes from kmp: weight, flight characteristics, finish,
apart from what is on the website.
I just pre-ordered one from chief aircraft. hopefully the zenoah 20's will fit well.

Not very hard, typed in kondor model products in yahoo and up came www.kmp.ca
I got their first P-38, mucho junko... I hope the newer offerings are better, they have to be or they would be out of buisiness.

Hi:
You will will find a world of difference from our products of 5 years ago and today. The DC3 is made of the very best Epoxy resin glass. The fuse Cowls and Wings all have panel lines and details masterfully crafted into the molds with the very best CnC machines.
We just received our shipments of DC'3 and all the civilian units are sold. I do beleive we have some Military versions still in Stock. For any further information feel free to contact us toll free 888-968-7251.

Like any enterprise that is successful, first offerings get followed up with better and better products. Here for your view is my new KMP Bearcat. With a Zenoah G-26, it is a going machine, and not a single hiccup in assembly. I think that the VT/KMP/EMS enterprise is really trying.

RE: kmp d3 due november 30th i just ordered one
good news and bad news
the plane arrived but I ordered a dc3 and received a c47.
The good:: is that the overall quality and finish of the plane is perfect it felt great just holding it, I only got a chance to unpack a wing and the retracts as everything is going back in hopes of receiving what I ordered.
The retracts look extremely well done with huge 4" tires with aluminum wheels.
The c47 that I received looks great and it is huge I would of kept but my dad wanted a dc3, The manual leaves a lot to be desired as it gives no dimensions, and no specifications for servos and doesn't tell you where the extra 2 servos go or what they do.
my thoughts are ailerons 2 servos + flaps 2 servos + engines 2 servos + retracts 1 servo + elevators 2 servos + rudder 1 servo.
where do the other 2 servos go what did i miss. maybee tailwheel that is 1 more and then there is still 1 left over.

RE: kmp d3 due november 30th i just ordered one
-I received the dc3 after a lot of shipping issues. The extra servos are for the inside flaps or whatever you call them. And no servo for the tail wheel as far as I can tell.
-The whole plane is beautifully molded. There was tremendous attention to detail.
-The first problem is that the horizontal stabilizers do not sit flush against the fuselage.
-Both cowls are pretty badly done.
-The cowls will not really take away from the plane as I plan to install zenoah 20's somehow and there will be only about half the cowl left, hopefully the good half.
-The biggest issue I am having is it seems like they got someone with Parkinson's with one hand tied behind their back blindfolded and drunk while hanging upside down to apply the letter decals "Delta Airlines".

Are you gonna post some pictures soon. I gotta see the decals! Thoes two servos are or might be for cowl flaps to open and close them. They aid in cooling the engines and also maintaining a constant eng temp on the real aircraft but don't know how funtional they would be on the model.
Thanks,

RE: kmp d3 due november 30th i just ordered one
Ok so I will post pictures very soon,
now so far It looks like its 6 servos for wing three servos per side throttle, aileron, flap, 2 servos for elevators one for each, 1 rudder, 1 retracts valve , 2 for inner flaps one each, for a total of 12 servos and a minimum of 6 channels.
I still have not gotten to the tailwheel but its probably secured to the rudder so no extra servo there.
The plane looks better and better each time the model itself is great apart from the decals.
About the cowl flaps nope none actually the cowl has very few details, and has a plastic look when compared to the rest of the plane. good thing I will be hacking them soon to fit the g20s.

Wow! I see what you mean by the decals.I wonder what they were thinking when they applied them.Anyway have you looked at the retracts yet? I was wondering how good they look. All in all it looks like a good ship to assemble. How are the outer wing panels held on? By a bolt? Looks like a wing spar goes through the wing also. Well anyway happy building and let me know how you are doing from time to time on the plane. I want to get one but curious how yours comes together.
Thanks,

does the wing get glued together or are the tips bolted on or are they held together with elastic bands like the kmp p38?

The wing is glued together with wood spars holding each side to the center piece. and then it is held to the body by palstic screws
The retracts are the best part of the plane they look very scale will post pics soon

HI
It seems to be a nice reproduction of the dc-3. not sure about the accuracy of the tail though if you get a chance to take a picture zoomed on tail that would be great. Do you have windows already installed or do you have to glue transparent plastic?

I am looking at buying one of these myself. I would like to see a few more being built before I buy one of these high dolllar planes. I see that the decals were a little off. For the money this plane cost every detail should be perfect. What are your thoughts on this plane so far? I have not had any KM P planes but a few of the guys at the club have them and they seem to be a very good plane. Keep the pic's coming on the build and any commits you have.

the letter decals and the detail of the cowls are the only bad points. The engines will mount very close to the fuselage so it might actual fly with one engine given the right angles.
The kit quality is tremendous and the retracts are very scale and look really good real heavy duty also look much stronger than that robart crap. the hinges are all robart style except for the flaps which are pinned hinges I guess.
I already hinged all the surfaces and it was pretty straightforward (epoxied(30 minute) hinges to the moving surfaces first).
If you want a plane to have hanging from some tall celling then it will look great as everything has great lines and a stellar fiber glass job.
If you want to fly it then I still cannot recommend it until I get it into the air.
Setup so far: 2 Zenoah g20ei, 5955 on each elevator, 5645's rudder and ailerons and maybe flaps or new micro 5245 for flaps retract and throttle. 2 futaba 8ch pcm receivers, 2 2cell a123 for receiver, 2 4.8 nimh for ignitions. 8 ounce fuel tanks.
the zenoahs stick out of the cowl but not as bad as I would have thought and with the bennet built muffler I should have very little problems.
Shipping was 100 to Florida (I purchased it from Chief Aircraft but it shipped from here in Florida)

sounds pretty straight forward so far. Any problems with the instructions, I have heard that some of the KMP models don't have to good instructions with the planes. Anyway keep the info coming and pic's. I sure do want one I hope this turns out to be a keeper.
