RE: RE:
I'm still leaning towards Super Tigre 2300's at the moment. I need to get a hold of one and see how well it performs.
I love my Tigre's i just wish they had one between the G-90 and the G2300. .90 to 1.40 is a big jump.
May have to go with OS 108's if the G2300 puts out to much power for the 310.
Hopeing to get 19 pounds static thurst with a 3-blade prop out of the G2300.

Super Tiger 2300's would be a kick in the you know what on the 310, I have one in a quarter scale
Cermark Pitts S2-B and it hauls the mail effortlessly 16/8 3-blade prop on FAI fuel, exhausting through
a Bisson Pitts muffler but it is a little on the thirsty side, cruise around most of the time @ 1/2 throttle.

RE: RE:
I will go with the 1.20s. I saw a video of a 310 on youtube that has .91s and it flew at 29 lbs but it looked a bit sluggish. I also want to be able to bring her home in the event one engine decides to poop out and I think the 1.20 would be able to do that. The .91 would have a problem.
Anyway I started cutting! Got all of the 1/4" ply pieces done and next I'll do the bulkheads which are 1/8" ply. I hate it when I start gaining momentum and have to stop for work or sleep or meals or potty breaks or paying bills or.... Well you get the idea... I could spend HOURS in the hole just working my tail off.
Time for bed now, work tonight.....[&o]

RE: RE:
I have two OS .91s in mine... not sluggish at all IMHO. It cruises nicely at 1/2 to 5/8 power and one engine will certaily extend the shallow decent.... not a problem with the .91
... It's all about the optimun prop selection/pitch as well.
But, the pair of 1.20s would be just a little nicer.

RE: RE:
It was originally designed to fly with two .60 size engines. Two .91s I think would be flyable. One engine out and the other should have enough power to fly it all the way to the scene of the crash [X(] LOL
1.20's should be plenty of power.

If I where to make an all balsa, skeletonized open stick structure like an Sig Senior, clear Mica film covering, fixed wire gear, and mini servos.

Ok, so who's got some pictures or videos to post? I wanna see some more 310's in the air or at least some still shots. I promise you that when I finish this one there will be pics and videos of it.

Al, you're such a meanie, I don't know why I even talk to you.[>:] Yup, it's mine, Starla did a good job with the pics. I was hoping to get the strobe lights flashing in one of the pics that day, never did, they do look cool though.
What I should do is take some pics of that other one and post them, that'd make mine look like a real beauty. LOL I'd have to say it was one of your better ones and I bought it from you. LOL GOTCHA !!!!

RE: RE:
Nice Delray!!! Thanks. Now guys,THATS the kind of motivation I need. It's not like Im excited enough to have this project in the beginning stages, but...well...
Got home from work this morning and rough cut all the ply formers for the fuselage. Next up will be all the ply wing parts then ribs. It's starting to look like I have a kit sitting here. Feel like a kid in a candy store.

RE: RE:
Thisstrangeengine,
Thanks, it does help to have a visual of what that big box of wood might someday look like. Seems like ya build and build and build some more just to start building again, it is a big project. Mine is 30 years old and it took me about two years of fairly steady building to complete it.
Basically, it was the main build and the glassing one year and the final finish and paint the next. I did buy another one that was "crudely" built for the Robart nose gear, so I have an ugly up overhead in the garage that maybe someday I'll get into flight condition. Pictures are too scarey to even post of that one.[X(] Al aka The Handyman will surely comment on my comments. LOL
Good luck on your project, it'll come together and be well worth all that's invested. I'm not sure if there ever was a Nosen 310 build blog 30 years ago, but I didn't know of one to visit back when I built mine, so you have the advantage of all the other's inputs.
Be sure to take pics all through the build, that's one thing I did, many don't realize what it had to look like before it became a beautiful bird.

Big Al, I knew you wouldn't disappoint me. It's a good toss at which would be uglier, but I think that 310 has an edge on me jus' a little. It's very close.......

RE: RE:
Well I am moving along on the formers. I have all the notches cut for the 1/4" sticks and the crutch now. Still have to cut the centers out of the formers. I don't think it's going to take me as long to actually BUILD the airframe as it is to cut all the parts for it. I've done several planes from plans over the years and even designed a few along the way. I designed a sport twin a couple years ago and it flies pretty nice. No bad habits so far and even goes pretty good on one engine. There are pictures of it in my gallery and I have a video on youtube if anyone is interested.

RE: RE:
Thisstrangeengine,
I like the Bobcat, I wouldn't mind bumping that plan up in size a few notches and build a bigger one, like say for two .91 Saitos. I do have a Giant Bobcat twin, an old twin trainer, it was a Bradford kit which later changed hands and company name. It's an excellent flier at 97" w.s. and very good one engine out performance. I can't think of the full scale your Bobcat resembles, but I'd like to build one.

RE: RE:
Delray, the Bobcat is built from the RCM plans from 1964 I believe. Originally wanted to do a Skyking theme, but when it was built back in the late 80s the WWW.com thing was just a twinkle in someones eye; so you had to go to the library or bookstore to "google" photos of Songbird. Went with a simple color scheme just to finish it. Has a 66" wingspan BTW.

Nosen 310's are typically multi year projects, and multi owners/builders !!!! Its a big project for sure, especially if you start trying to scale it out. Somewhere on this thread there is a guy that has built 3-4 of them.. That is dedication and perseverance ! and more than just a LITTLE dedication !

The second time around would be a whole lot easier if it is already cut...
