Gary,
Thanks for the help uploading photo's, I've just discovered its my lap top thats not allowing to upload for some reason. when i click on ''multi-file upload with progress bar'' or ''click here to upload images and files'' it just opens a new RC Universe Forums page. I'll have to have a look into that. But i just tried on a different computer now and it worked fine. its just a matter of getting the images onto another computer now.

Chris.
Hi Chris,

I wonder if its your pop up blocker settings on the computer that doesn't work. Try allowing Pop Ups from this site through your browser's "Tools" menu.

Do you live in the UK or are you currently deployed there?

Best Regards,

Gary

Hi Chris,

I just looked at your Gallery in your RCU Profile. Very nice job on your 87" C-130 build. Please keep use posted. I know Jerry "fordtech09" from northern California will be interested since you both will be building the same size C-130.

For all fellow C-130 fans out there. You may find this link interesting;

Its just a model but a nice job!

Gary

Hi Gary,
I'll give that a try and see if it works, as for the 87" c130 pictures on my profile, thier just pictures i found of that model on the internet, its not actually mine. I just uploaded them for people to see what the 87" Palmer c130 looked like. I've searched everywhere to find information on this scale model but all i can find is those pictures, gives me a good idea what to aim for when im building mine i suppose. I live in Wales in the UK and im stationed at RAF Lyneham which is in England. I'll be coming over to the States for a vaccation this summer with my girlfriend. We're going to Florida for three weeks. It will be my 5th time over there but I've never been to California, would like to visit the west coast sometime.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Way to go! Those pictures are GREAT! Thanks for sharing.

The reason I asked if you were from the UK is because my Mom's side of the family are all from England. She wants to go back to visit so bad. My Dad was from South Dakota here in the USA. They met and married in England during WWII while he was stationed there. He was in the Air Force.

Gary

Need some info please,

Does anyone know the diameter of the retractable landing lights on the real C-130? I also would like to know the diameter of the taxi lights on the main gear door. Thanks for you help.

I have a retractable light for the C-130 ( came of an A model ) . The outer dia of the housing flange is 10 1/4 " and the light that retracts out is 8 1/8 " diameter. I will have to see if I have the taxi lights for the gear doors to advise.

RE: Palmer 132

Hi Gary,
Here are some specs. Full size wing span 132 ft 7 inches. nose to tail 38 ft 2 inches. ground to top of tail 38 feet 2 inches.
from the nose to tail its measured in inches of flight station numbers. example FS-01 IS the tip of the nose and FS-1591 would
be the tip of the tail. For the fuselage ground level would be zero up to the bottom of the fuselage. so if the bottom of the fuselage sets
at say 30 inches that would be the water line or WL-30 to the top of the rudder would be WL-458. As for the wings i believe the center of the wing is
the zero point. so the wings are 1591 inches so divide by 2 would be 795.5 left to right.
Man its been awhile i use to know all about the C-130 but over time i just forgot alot of things lol.
Oh have you looked on the bottom of your ASM C-130. It does have the outline of the ramp and cargo door.
I do also have a set of the SKIP MAST C-130 from Model Aiplane News from Decmber 1981 that shows the outline
of the ramp and door. i even have a copy of the article.
I going to look in some boxes i believe i still have my training books that i got when i went thru my c-130 technical training when
i was in the USAF.

Hope this helps. JERRY.

Hello

A couple of photos to show that I am almost done with the painting and putting on decals on the outside. The next step are to put in the windows I have made some in a small form so they fit the hole in the fuselage, they have a small edge so I can glue them from the inside. The windows in the cockpit section will be made one by one so I think there will be work enough to an evening or two.

Hello Peter

Yes it is me:) When I joined this site it wouldn`t accept my real name so I tried untill it worked.
I have seen Ivars Ziroli DC-3 very nice plane and it is funny we can meet here on a US forum. I have a built thread in danish on our local site [link]http://www.modelflyvning.dk/forum/showthread.php?t=40774[/link] there are a lot of photos from the start but it is in Danish.
By the way I still have my Yellow P-38 waiting for an engine change (two ZDZ 40 Gas) but I will finish the Herc first.

Well C130 is one of those airplanes that i seems not to get enough of, sorta like Avro Arrow!. Way b4 i ever knew about availability of my Palmer 1:12 C130, i had been looking for GWS's C130 offering as Cargoptrans quad!, well now after all this long i have a deal pending on one. It's the quad prop version and is NIB kit, got a very good deal on it also. I will be adding EC-130H's add-on details on it and converting it also. This way i will have baby 130 and daddy C-130 at the same time as with Arrow. Will post it's pictures after my release from hospital and it's arrival.;);)

Hi Sam,
Those GWS C-130s are fun. I have a NIB kit waiting to be built. This is my second one my first one got eaten by a tree lol.
I painted mine gray with USAF markings. Im currently working on my ASM C-130 BUT also thinking about building a Palmer C-130.
I also thought about blowing up a set of plans that i have of the Skip Mast C-130 from Model Airplane News to the 132" size.
that airplane was build from foam.
I now how you feel about how you can't get enough of the C-130. Me its in my blood, im retired USAF. I was a Aircraft Mainteance
Technican trained on the C-130s but also worked on the C-141 and finished my career as a Dedicated Crew Chief on the
C-5 Galaxy. got me thinking to also finishing up my GWS C-130 . baby and daddy lol.

Get Well Soon Jerry.

Hello All,

Can one of you who have the 132" kit based on Palmer plans tell me if it has Fowler Flaps?

Thanks,

Gary

Greeter;

Yes, sort of, if you can call Robart device true Fowler Flap movement. See the earlier flap discussion in this forum. Somewhere around page 22 or so. There is quite a bit of info there. This is a picture of my aircraft with "true Fowler flaps". Disscusion of this method is in the threads and how to do it.

Gary,

So i see you are thinking or looking into becoming part of 1/12th scale C130 madness now......

You will have your hand n mind full on this one for veary long time if you are regular speed builder unlike out "Olsen" who built his with rocket speed!!!

Will be going home on coming Thursday finally and good thing is now i know what the problem is, it's the acute/cronic severe back pain that is interconnected with my legs and after so much of baring the pain, it triggers then to shut down!. will be be goign to back pain management clinic to get this treated and will be coming back in day hospital for OT n physio 3 times a week for next 2-3 months...
