hello I have a new df60 with 1800mah lipo (brushless is on the to buy list but not for a while). anyway i am having problems trying to hover, i cant get this heli over 2 feet in the air. I have the pitch set at 4 deg at half and 9 deg at full stick, my throttle curve is set to max out at approx 80% stick. everything seems fine but the heli just won't go up. I was wondering if this is a common problem with the df60 it seems to just be uderpowered. so any help would be great.
also i was wondering if any trex parts fit on this heli such as shafts, motors, head parts tail parts etc...

Your too heavy simply put.
Get a brushless system, and get rid of all those cable tubing too/ the weight adds up.
make you unit light as possible.. Check your main blade pitch angle using the proper tool.

hello i was having this problem before i added the shrink tubing. the tubeing has helped greatly with the glitching problem since all the wires are seperate and away from the power source, it helps. as far far as the pitch goes i use a proper pitch guage.
you are probibly right about the weight though. i think i can lighten it up a bit but not much.
I know a brushless will help alot but im wondering why the stock motor cant lift the stock heli? any thoughts on this?

Absolutely! Add in the 100 degree weather we've been having and your density altitude is over 7500'. Trust me, these electric heli's weren't designed to fly 7500' high. I'm in Reno and I've yet to get my 22E to hover out of ground effect. I'm about ready to give up. The only thing left for me to try is a LiPo. I hate to keep throwing money at this thing with no guarantee it will ever fly at Reno's altitude. You have to make it as light and as powerful as possible to have any hope, or take it to SF.
Good luck!

i have a lipo im going to try a brushless motor and im upgrading to larger trex main blades. I'm pretty sure that will do it if not its back to the ol drawling board. i am curious though, how it will handle the larger blades.

josh what long blades are you giong to use? is it the 325 CF blades? this might hit the tail prop since it too long... I have'nt tried it yet on the DF60 but I have a 325 set of blades here.. I tried to compare it with the existing 288mm and this blades are long.. good for the 450 size TREX but too long for the Df60 even with the longer boom... just be sure of it before you fly it you might get blade strikes...

well I thought i'de try the 315mm blades, I added the difference to the stock 285mm and fit it to my heli, looks like they will fit fine. I think I will have to adjust the gyro gain to compinsate but they should still fit I think.
Sinse my bird is down right now I took the time to reroute the electrical system, the reciever is now all the way in the back inside the frame, I've tested it and it seems to be rock solid. I don't even get those little quivers in the servos anymore. I ran two batteries through it now and so far so good NO GLITCHES. take a look. just a little cleaning up to do now.

im sure it does but try and fly your heli at 5000+ feet in the air. there is alot less air up here for those little blades to move. anyway would you happen to know if any trex parts fit on this bird. I know the tail boom does it's just a little long so im wondering if the tail case would fit as well? maybee a trex cnc upgrade.... perhaps?

the feathering shaft fits.. i am using it on my DF60, the boom also works.. just need to saw a small portion since it is longer.... the blades grips.... and the skids.. some other small items.... but the CNC head well it will work but yuou have to do some modifications for it to fit ....

thank you soneebee for that info I will keep you posted if the main blades 315mm will fit. In the meantime i finished my canopy tell me what you think (not bad for a spray can job is it).
anyway im thinking of getting an align 430L brushless motor but should i get the 3550kv or the 4050kv and what is the differnce?
also should i get the align 25a esc or the 35a esc for this motor what are the advantages disadvantages of each... thanks
oh and does anyone know if i need to buy the pinion gear and conectors seperatly? or do they come with it?

Hello joshnakken,
I am no expert but i have read up on some info on the DF36.
The DF36 is compatable with all Trex tail parts and with all Shogun head parts.
As for the motors i would get the biggest motor with the largest ESC capacity, always safest.

thank you very much for that info... however this is not a 36, it is a 60. does anyone know if the cnc upgrades will fit? I know walkera makes upgrades for this model, but to be honest the look really stupid and cheap if the trex stuff will fit (I am not sure about the main shaft diameter) I would rather uprade with those parts. so if anyone knows if the main shafts are the same diameter with the holes in the same place then I can upgrade to a whole new rotor head ass. thanks
