Default 180D to 180Z

Hello. I just killed my 180D. It was a nice heli but i had range issues. I was thinking of going to the 180Z but i was wondering if the 180Z has range issues like the 180D? Anyone know?. Thanks Everyone..KSM1969

As far as I know the 180Z's were upgraded to brushless motors and of course they needed brushless ESC's too. But I don't think they changed anything else though.
How far way were you getting?  i myself can't see these things all that far away.

Hello. My 180D would go about 40-50 feet before it would drop like a rock. Just hoping the 180Z is different with alot better range.

Hum... try to check the little black wire in the 4in1. make sure if is not touching any part of the frame and other wires, point it as far away as possible. Sometime resoldering it will help too. 40-50 feet seem a little short.......

The 180Z has a few big differences from the 180D. The Z has a brushless motor, and they did away with the direct drive tail and did a torque tube tail. It also has the new 3 axis gyro. A buddy of mine got one and it's not to bad. Doesn't seem to have a range issue, but out of the 5 tail gears total two of the front tail gears constantly strip, and always those two. The two back ones at the tail have yet to strip and the thats driven off the main gear is still fine. Think walkera deffinitely drop the ball on this one, I've heard people say that after 3 or 4 flights they've had a gear or multiple gears strip.

The gears have worked on my 180Z just fine. I am still on the original gears after quite a few flights.
i did check the gear meshing and I put a tiny dab of silicon grease on the gears too. it didn't look like a self lubricating plastic to me.
But after that first dab of grease, I never touched them again.
