Default The Bridge at Remagen

After just watching the Film 'The Bridge at Remagen' Can someone confirm what type of tank was used by US forces in the film?
Was it a Bulldog?

The small tanks ripping through the town are Chaffees. I believe there are Shermans laying down an artillery barrage as well. Been a while since I saw the movie ....

(Thanks for the PM...Enjoyed it!!)

hi guys,

Don't know how accurate the PS1 game Panzer Front, but the Mission: Bridge at Remagen, gives
you Sherman tanks to coordinate the attack. I really missed that game, saw some heavy action when I did it.
Unfortunately, my PS1 is no more and my PS2 & PS3 don't even play it [:@]

Keep tanking

They're M-47s. At least the "toy" Col. Hessler made the comment "Germans are still the best toy makers in the World!" about was modeled after the full-size props.

At least they painted them grey and put German crosses on them.

In any event, I still enjoy that movie but I make a mental note while watching it to not compare it to the actual events in The Battle of the Ardennes/Battle of the Bulge. It is far too inaccurate to be taken as a serious retelling of the BOTB.

M-24 Chaffee.. light tank with a 75mm gun...at the time, (Summer 1944) the most heavilly armed light tank in the world. 5 Man crew and awkwardly, the turret crew positions were reversed with the TC and gunner on the left and loader on the right. Also had them in korea where they were totally useless against the T-34. It was a fast tank and easy to handle, but lacked in firepower.

That was a miserable film...M-47s representing tigers[:'(] They got the tanks from the Italian Ariete Division and cut off the bussle box behind the turrets. [:-]
