i have never had a tank before and was wondering if there was such thing as a nitro tank.

People have made nitro tanks with little success, especially with 1:16th... The nitro engines just dont have enough torque unless they're really geared down, but they then wear out quickly running higher rpms for so long. As far as 1:6th tanks go, people have thrown gas engines in them with impressive results.

the M1 ABRAMS came out with a Textron lycoming AGT 1500 gas turbine power plant generating 1500 hp thats 1120 say kW so not just a prototype.

A 3- speed+ rev servo- selected gearbox - Webra .40 for power ( Model is a 1/10 scale Panther F); run test:



A slightly modified3- speed+ rev servo- selected gearbox - Webra .40 for power ( Model is a 1/10 scale late JagdPanther)
Mofification was mostly new cover plate - shift mechanism to allow for sloped JP front plate.


Electronic assisted shift version webra .40 4 power ( Model is a 1/10 scale King Tiger) :


Webra 6,5 (.40) Blackhead still preferred engine by me as it is very durable and easily maintained. Has great output
power. 4 cycles may be quiet but run hotter - more difficult to cool and are more prone to destructive backfire unless
you are very vigilent.

Gearbox was made in Germany until later 1980s, however there are alternatives if one really wants to follow this path.
Patience, a bit more money than your average tank and more patience.

how are you cooling that motor looks like something around the head?.

Yes all three of these models have electric starters. They use an INA roller clutch bearing ( either a INA-1012 or 1022 - depending on the components used) for the key, driven ( engine mounted) component.

Yes cooling is a major factor, 4 cycles being more difficult in my opinion. These three models are all powered by Webra 6,5 ( .40cid) Blackhead
engines. This version has a crankshaft with a special extra long crank pin which is used to drive a rear mounted rotor on which is monted a
radial fan. The shroud you see is the fan housing used to duct the cooling airflow around the head. All in all a pretty efficient and compact unit.
