Whats that?

Using what exhaust, at what temp, humidity, & pressure?
New or broken in?
High test or regular?
What brand of oil?

blenderm tape is a tape flyin tiger used to seal his hinge gaps, see his post. It appears to be some kind of medical use tape from 3 M that is clear and easy to work with.

I will be flying the DA-50 in Naples Florida using the Slimline exhaust. The engine is brand spanking new, run approx. two minutes getting approx. 6600 RPM's now. Using 32:1 mix of Ashless oil and regular fuel. Temperture 80's - 90's most of the time, finally now getting cooler.
I also just purchased the "wingtote" brand for my wings from tower at $ 61 for the small. I hope they are big enough, did messure the wing and it was at least 2" smaller that the spec's listed on the Tower web site.

Cheap and goes with all schemes

If your using the DA-50 in a 28% Wild Hare, you've more than enough power to do it all!
The small Wing Totes are just a little too small for the 28% wings.

Mogley,
I disagree with flier. He may not actually own one, but I personally own the wingtote 44" double wing bag (WGT201), that I use with my Wild Hare extra 28% and the wings fit perfectly. I purchased from tower. Its almost like the bag was made for these wings.

Tower also has the Blendem Tape here:http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJGT1&P=7
but if you want to use for hinge gaps the clear packing tape works great!!! ,, I don't think the blendem tape will stick to the covering good to prevent flutter,, clear tape it's the way to go

Blenderm will stick just fine, I use it to hinge control surfaces on Foamies made of depron. The first one I built I used packing tape and even clened the surface with alcohol first and the still came unstuck. The packing tape I'm sure would work too but it has to be cut to the proper width, Blenderm comes in a 3/4" width.

huh, that's interesting because I have the small wingtote and my 28% wings fit perfectly inside. I have read other posts on this forum from people who also use the small wingtote- matter of fact that's how I knew to buy that size because of posts I read here.
Anyway, maybe we have two different production runs that were made slightly differently.

I have never seen thrust values posted on the DA-50. I was going to say the thrust values are probably the same (or very close), to the thrust on the ZDZ50, but RC showcase doesn't post those thrust values either. I am not sure you will find the answer to that question.

I don't think the early small wingtotes would fit.
The new ones maybe a tad bigger.
I think they may have changed hands.

If they had just made the bags 2" longer, I could have closed the zipper

Dont worry about the trust nos. Just hang on for the ride once you have the DA 50 broken in. My 28 % extra weighs 16 lb 4 oz. and is way overpowered. Try a 24x8 prop later you will like it. ZDZ 50 is not on the same power level as the DA.

Kent,
I have owned both the zdz50 and the da50 and they are pretty close to the same power. Both swung the same prop at roughly the same RPMs, within a few hundred.

that would be great
I'm just a little concerned both my extras came in a little heavy with the DA-50. All stock they both weigh approx. 20 lbs with fuel. I do have a little too large battries in both of them ( 2x 3300 mAh.)
Oh well, I had these batts available. We'll see how they do.
On my extra, the left aileron (looking from the rear) moves up and down while at idle (3 - 4 mm up and down) while my brother's extra does not exhibit this trait.
Both engines only ran approx. 5 minutes so far with a 3 W 22 x 8, spinning approx. 6500 RPMs. I think I'm still way on the rich side, but i'll leave it as such for now for the first couple of fligthts.

you should peak out the high end and back it off 300-500 rpm. running super rich does no good for a new gasser. Mine is turning the menz-s 22-8 around 7K and idels down to 1800. I have less than a gallon through it. Its not looking good for tomorow morning...dam rain!
I wiil get the thrust readings some time this weekend if i have to do it in my driveway!

Hey mogley, I have the Extra lx. Not sure about the weight right now. But it's mostly stock. I also have a DA50 with a cf Mejzlik. 23x8 prop. It does a great job!! Unlimited vertical. And great pull out power!!!!!
