For the tiller arm tail wheel drive try this..cheap easy strong and very easy for the manufactuer. You can make it as long or short as needed.

i prefere it to be on the bottom of the rudder like the pic im posting but i know i can make the arm better just didnt want to take the timeand it can be bigger if you wanted but thats not the way to do it the same size as the tw tiller arm is the size you want with the correct geometry lends itself to the best control of the tail wheel then to the best ground handling.

FlatlandMike, looks good, I just took the easy lazy method hehehehe.. I like just threading in the rod, put ends on it and attaching springs and I am done LoL. Quick simple and has been pretty bullet proof for me to date on the 3 birds I have used it on.. Only problems I have ever had were springs that let loose, but thats usually no biggie I carry extra's.. Although it is always fun when you land and she takes a turn all by herself LoL.

Regarding pocket hinges on thesmall planes, I'm concerned that it will add too much weight and cost. I am considering having the planes hinged at the factory though, that's always the most time consuming and least fun job.

I have real peace of mind when I'm the one installing the hinges......We see how they mis a spot or two in the fuse with glue.....I don't want to worry about the hinges.

hey gyro, i agree but the hinges are the most hated thing i do in a build. after i am done i know they are right so i see your point.
i think tom and a few others have talked me into trying the 41% extra rabbit as soon as the $$ comes in. you and cory won't be the only rabbit hearders around here any more. lol

What do you expect the 85" Sukhoi to weigh?
Oh, and what's the diameter of the cowl?

The cowl is 10 3/8" wide at its widest point. More than enough for a 3w56b2 it would seem.

As soon as I get home I'm going to try my hand at making some lower rudder tillers for tailwheel steering. If it works I'll send a couple to Tom to look at. I made one for the big Sukhoi out of thin ply and carbon fiber but I've found a new center piece that's lighter to replace the plywood.

I will have the weight in a few days, I'm not done assembling it but it seems like it willbe about the same as the new 84" Extra 300, maybe 16-16.25 range.

And why would you do that? It mostly just makes them unmamageable. No need for that much power.
Consider putting a 600 cubic inch 700 horsepower big block in a camaro that you drive around on the street. Yes, you can get it to go slow, but that's not what it wants to do. You'll end up using that power some time when it's not wanted.

Hey Tom, check out some of the pictures of the included baffle for the new EF Yak:

It's just an idea of something to add into the Sukhoi.

Too easy for the user to do. Here's the products. Contact RCBlimp productions and get 1 1-/4 square feet of his sheet sandwich. Weighs nothing and has a nice silver weave face. Cut to shape and epoxy glass with strips of light glass cloth to the inside of the cowl...

Tom, are we looking at 100cc or so for the new Giles? The origional was a monster with an 80cc, so is 100cc the target for the 41% or are we looking 150cc?

100cc is plenty, and I think it's going to be 39% and 102" wing span.
The new Giles should be the same weight or less than the original, even though it's much larger.

You got my vote on that one. I love that flame sceme. Just can't afford the 41%, The 35% Is more in my budget. Well not really, a foamy is more in my budget if you ask the ole lady. But i'm willing to sleep in the dog house for a rabbit
