Default WH 540 Edge V2

I was looking at buying a WH gasser. Since the Extra is on back order and now the SU......that leaves the Edge.
Does anyone on here have any time with this plane, and if so what is your setup.

Thanks

I'm building one of the Edges reight now. I've just about got it done. I really like the looks of the kit. It's quality. I've heard nothing but good about the way it flys and hope to verify that soon.

My setup is:

DA50R
NX 22x8
Rudder and Elevators are HS5955
Ailerons are HS5945
Throttle is Futaba 9001
Choke is manual
Exhaust is Cannister

I've purchased a CF Wing tube and stab tube.

So far I'm very please with the build.

I should have it flying by Saturday.

Thanks
Barry

I've had two. One of each version, and have a third in the shed waiting to be assembled. That should provide an idea of how much I like it. Set ups are simple, just choose an engine and your personal taste in servos that meet the torque requirements. Faster servos make everything that much better. I've used a Brison 3.2 and a Taurus 52 on my previous planes. Any of the current 50cc engines will be more than enough.

At 17 lbs. the wing loading is 28 oz. per square foot. That's probably more than it will actually weigh.

Been flying the V1 for 3 years now. Da50. 5645MG on the wings and elevators, 8611 on the rudder(pull-pull). Vess 23A prop. Absolute best customer service in the industry at Wild Hare. I am more a sport flyer than 3D. This Edge will do both quite well. Just get it. You will be grinning from ear to ear soon too!!

Does wildhare sell a carbon fiber stab tube and landing gear? I see the wing tube on the price list but didn't see the others unless I'm blind[8D].
Also... Does anyone know the approximate weight savings by going with all carbon fiber on the landing gear and the tubes?

No carbon stab tube or gear. Get the gear at Troy Built or Graphtec. At 16 to 16-1/2 pounds with a carbon wing tube only there's not much benefit in a carbon stab tube.

WooHoo!!!! I just got off the phone with Tom and ordered one too!!!! Finally sold off enough stuff to get the combo package on it's way!!!! Now I've got to sell of a few more odds and ends for some servos and might as well get a new radio too!!!! I figure I'll get the plane and engine here and get started while I'm making the rest of the $$ [8D]

Man I havent been here in this forum in like 1 year,,I also still have the V1 Edge and love it. It's a good choice of plane.

Now I have a question too,,,does the Ailerons and elevators servos about the same distance from the control horns??? What I mean is will the same lenght pushrods work on the V1 and V2 Edge,,also is the Wingtube and stab tube same size???

I'm also thiking in upgrading my Edge to V2

Wing and stab tubes are the same but I don't know about the push rod lengths.

Yes that would be an easy fix,, I was concerned about the OD of the Wing/Stab Tubes,,,so what about the lenght of the pushrods,,,anyone???? From servo horn to control horn

I'm pretty certain that the evevator rods are a touch longer due to a minor repositioning of the servo opening. The wing itself is now a built up rather than a foam core so it's possible the aileorn rod lengths have changed fractionally as well. In any case, some carbon tube and 4-40 rod to makke up a couple of new ones and you're good to go.

It would be nice if all the 50cc planes made all had the same control rods but I don't think anything like that will happen soon.

Charrua,

At the moment I'm overseas and I just can't quite make it out to the shed to check. Otherwise I would.

My pushrods on the ailerons and elevators were 3". The CF tube is 1 1/2" and slides over the 4/40 rod. I'm installing the landing gear now. I should have it ready to go on Saturday.

Thanks
Barry
