Default Smaller Bunnies

Tom,

Just wondering what the status of the smaller bunnies is? I recall a 25% Edge and Extra 260 was in the mix at some point. Only mention something as I have a Saito 180 and Moki 2.10 in need of a home!

They are almost here, will be in the next container at the end of this month. An Edge version and an Extra 260 version.

They are extremely light, I don't know if either of your engines would be too much power. I expect them to weigh about 9 lbs witha 2 pound engine like a Thunder Tiger 1.20.

More soon.

Here are photos of the new Baby Edge and the 73"Extra 260. They should be here in a few weeks, price will be around $300.

I'm recommending the OS 1.20 AX as an ideal engine for these planes, but I will also have a recommended electric power setup.

This is one approach thatwas used onone of the prototypes.

For sport flying and some 3D maneuvers but no hovering use the AXI 4130/16 on 6S 4000-5000mAh and a Castle Phoenix 80 controller with an APCE 16X8 or 16X10 prop. This should be a 1000-1200W setup. This is the upper limit of this motor so be careful.

For ballistic performance (it has not been flown it this way but this info comes from a very experienced pilot) try an AXI 5320/24 on 8S 3000-4000mAh and a Castle 45HV or 85HV and an APCE 20X8 or 20X10 prop. This should produce ~1700W and should be considered the upper limit of the airframe. It should weigh ~9-10lb and getting CG should be no problem.

Both will also need an external BEC or flight battery to supply power to the radio gear.

MPI has some suggested higher voltage combos that ought to work well also.

Tom

what glow motors did you fly these with? Any you use that provided good 3D capability?

Maybe I should buy one and do a review on it. Probably will be over kill with what I have planned for power. The 260 looks exactly like the larger 260 I have!

I tested it with an OS 1.60. It was insanely overpowered. It would go straight up at a higher speed than most planes will go horizontal. There is no need for that much power.

An OS 1.20 AX or Thunder Tiger 1.20 Pro will be way more than enough to rocket out of a hover, even a good .91 would probably do it.

Tom,

How about a 3w-24 in one of these planes? Too heavy or too powerful? What adaptations would you have to make to use a 3w-24? I have a couple laying around which are begging for a home. They are left over from a past project.

Thanks Elson

Use the 1.60, but you will never need full power.

How much do you expect these to go for Tom. I think I'm going to have to hold off on the 100cc.

Yeah, a YS 1.10 ought to be an excellent match.
