Hi guys looking for a little info on prop distance from cowl, 50cc sukohi SU-26 .
Looking at the picture the Prop is almost 1" on the top side of the cowl and maybe 3/4" at the bottom ( the difference it the built in thrust ). Does this seem an adequate amount of clearance? right now the stock muffler on my DL-50 is really close to the cowl ( Probably will have to wrap the can in header wrap ) so I don't want to move the engine forward any more if I don't have to or I will need to cut the cowl to clear the muffler.

marzo91,
Did you use the stock muffler ( DA or DL ) and if so how close to the cowl was yours?. This being my first GS plane I am maybe a little bit more worried on some things I may not need to sweat so much but I figure since I have this great wealth of information so close at hand why not ask.

How you establish the c/g will pretty much determine where the prop ends up. Round cowl planes benefit from having the prop more forward of the cowl than "standard" cowled planes but if you have all the thrust you need, run with what you have. Tom's point was a very good one. At 1/2" or so he had all the thrust he needed. Why change?
