Default A123 Tanic Packs

Tom,

Thanks for shipping out the Tanic packs. I got them yesterday. Did you charge them like we talked about last week?

Thanks, Kevin

I don't think I did, sorry. We got in a big shipment and just started sending out packs, meanwhile I was testing the new charger and got sidetracked.

New packs are usually about 40% charged when you get them.

BTW I got the message today that my shipment of Cellpro chargers is on the way, should be here Wednesday.

Thanks Tom, I ordered one from FMA Direct today, it will be here Friday,,,

What to do with the JR leads? They seem to be in the way. Is there a way to mount them for use? Run them under the deck? Its hard for me to picture a clean installation right now.

How long will it take to charge all three packs? I have a 25A radio shack power supply..

The JR type lead from the battery is used for charging and/or for low amperage power. I normally either just leave it loose in the plane or mount it on a charge receptacle in the side of the plane. This little $3 item allows you to charge from the outside without removing the hatch.

The other use is to route it to the ignition switch, which can also have a charge jack. I have used this method with all my different Spektrum and JR receivers without a glitch. If you do it this way, you can charge the main battery through the ignition switch.

If you are using a separate pack for ignition, you can use the JR lead alone for that, there's no reason to use the Deans connector if you are only pulling less than an amp.

Each pack will take about a half hour for the first charge. After that it depends on how much you use, for me it takes less than 15 minutes to recharge from a day of flying on each pack.

Did you get the charge cord from me?

No Tom I didn't. FMA said I needed "node connectors" even after I explained the exact set-up. So what else do I need?

Just put a female servo end on the node connector to make a charge cord. That's what I do to make the charge cords that I supply with the charger.

On the node connector red is + power, black is ground and the white wire next to the black wire is the balance wire and goes to the signal (yellow) wire in the servo connector. The other two white wires can be removed, they are balance leads for 3 or 4 cell packs which you do not have.
