I used 3 3/4" standoffs for my DL which is supposed to have the same dimensions as the DA, but you may want to consider making them slightly longer as I had to move all my batteries to the motorbox to get the CG correct.

Do the Velcro straps keep the batteries and ignition from sliding forward? I normally use wire ties in both the up and down directions, but the Velcro straps would be a lot simpler.

I love that cannister setup, that sound and throttle reponse is so sweet.

If any of you guys with the cannisters decide to shoot some video of your DL running, please post .

I have now doubled up the velcro straps to make sure the batteries and ignition do not move. After 7 flights, including two certification flights were we deliberately pushed it hard, everything seems to be staying in place properly.

Hi Tom,
Ordered the combo a couple of weeks ago also ordered a canister set for it. My question is on the can will it exit from the front or the rear? I've seen both and after reading the generic manual looks like I'm more intrested in the rear exit one. thanks

Then you should specify that. If the customer does not specify we usually send the TD75K if it is available, but the KS 86-4 is a good rear exhaust. Just let us know your preference.

Hi Tom, I see you are online. Do you have an ETA for the January delivery?

Sal98 :
I took your advise and went with 2 of the A123 packs, I did need a bit more weight up front and I wanted to run the Fromeco wolverine switch on the RX , 2 leads in and 2 out to RX and a badger switch up front. This is my first GS gasser and I am not too concerned with weight atm as I basically fly sport and am just getting into 3d, ugly hovers and some harriers. I just like to get out there and fly around basically :D. Thanks for the input and sorry it took so long to respond but I am slow at the building process as the local field is closed right now due to the fires we had out here in SoCal , they have sky crane helicopters working off our field reseeding the surrounding hills so they will get some new growth when the rains finally start.

The January delivery is going to slip into February a bit. The Sukhois were done a while ago but the building of the new Giles held it up. The container is now scheduled to leave the factory a wek from tomorrow, the 10th, and it takes about 30-35 days to get here.

I figure about the 12th of Feb. to start shipping.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!

I am excited, I ordered the complete package minus servos from Tom, Honda trim and TOC motor.

I lost all my planes and gear that were in the trailer in the hurricanes a few years back and have only just got back together financially, I am getting back into it with Somenzini's profile electric and looking forward to the arrival of my Sukhoi, I had 2 of Tom's 28% Extra's with DA 50's and his 35% Extra with a DA 100 and a 35% Carden Cap with a DA 100.

Tom explained to me that this generation of planes is a complete new design from the ground up and I have to say after flying some of the first batch of his I would encourage anyone interested to get a Wild Hare they are truly some "Bad Ass Bunnies"

On a side note, anyone in West Palm, FL area that fly's gassers that could recommend a field ? (that does not have an attitude towards large planes !!)

I used to have to drive an hour to a field that welcomed gasser's and would like to find one closer to home.

Thanks

Hey diesel65, check with GPutt33 at this site:

http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthrea...r/402368/page/

He has listings of thousands of clubs. Great guy to exchange e-mails with. If there is a club in your area, I bet he has it in his registry.

Enjoy your WH Sukhoi! Gearing up to build mine!!!!

Hmm i cant see the Da with 3-4/4" standoffs. Do you have to buy these from somewhere else than desert aircraft.com?

I had a friend make spacers using 20mm aluminium round bar stock that extended the length of the DL standoffs. However I have seen a lot of different ways to extend your spacers in previous posts in this thread.

One thing that you have to take into account when deciding on the length of your spacers is where you want the CofG to be. I wanted it in the forward position and I still battled to get it there with the 3 3/4" standoffs. I decided to set my CofG in this position for two reasons, firstly this is my first gasser and large scale plane and I did not want any surprises, and secondly I am going to use this plane for IMAC not 3D (I am entering my first comp at the start of February in Basic)

Cheers
