Nice video, I'm jealous. However I must say my WH Sukhoi with the yellow/red combination looks better, just kidding. The weather looked a little foggy, please get that cleared up by next Monday when my wife an I arrive in Fort Myers for the rest of the winter. We left Kauai yesterday, 78 degrees, got off the plane in Minneapolis this morning and it was -15 degrees. I've got a couple of hours left on my Sukhoi, can you tell me where the cg was on your plane? Do you have any concerns about the wheel pants holding up? The idle sounded a little high, was that on purpose?

Try cutting a hole in the back of the pants to let the debris out, its worked on small models for me??

The weather was very foggy / misty and the cieling was LOW !
Cleared up later to around 70* and sunny....(sorry);)
I had the plane balanced right on the center of the spar tube and It was a little twitchy in pitch.
Couldn't really get the altitude to do any trim test maneuvers.
As far as the pants, yea, I think they will be fine.
I added a couple blocks of balsa to the axle on the other side of the wheel and glued them to the FG pant to support the outside.
This is the only pic I have, but you just build the block of balsa as thick as it needs to be to fit between the pant and your wheel collar.
Drill the wood the same size as your axle and slide it on while assembling the pant, wheel & collars then jusd add a dab of thick CA to the wood and slide it up snug to the pant.

Tell me about it. Up here we fly on a well manicured polo field which just happens to be a resting spot for a whole bunch of geese this time of year. You don't want to know what I'm digging out of my pants every day..........

Does any one know were you can purchase NGK CM6 plugs localy? Im hoping to pick up a few from a local vendor like an auto supply store or something. Realy don't want to order online if I can avoid it.

Try a Honda garden equipment store. But be prepared to pay an outrageous price.

NGK raised the price about 6 months ago, sparkplugs.com price went from $2.50 to $7.20.

Don't feel bad. Up here in Canada, I bought a CM6 plug for my DA50, and it cost me $12.00 + taxes. I'd be happy if I only had to pay $7.00.

I bought 6 cm6's about a week ago at the AMA show for $3 each new from one of the vendors, they were ngk too not the Chinese knock-off ones. anyway I don't think Ill ever use all of them but I like to have a few extras in the box at the field, nice to have a few on hand for when someone else may need one or two

Thanks Guys, I'll try the honda dealer tom. I think my plug might be fouled but I'm not allthat sure because I dont know the symtoms of a fouled plug. I just know my engine sputters and loads up really bad at idle. Once I bring in the low end it will start to starve the engine but it will be sputtering at the same time.

I guess it could be a plug, but make sure your ignition battery is charged and your low speed circuit should be adjusted to be as lean as it can be and still have it respond quickly when the throttle is opened on a warm engine.

I adjust my low end in a little at a time until when I open the throttle quickly it dies, then I back off enough to correct that. This will make the engine so that you must allow it to warm up before you can open the throttle, if it's any richer thahn that it's too rick on low end.

Thats exactly how i set up mine as well. Usally when its cold at this setting the engine will die if I hit the trottle to fast but once it warms up I can go full throttle instantly and no gurgeling in the midrange.

Just picked up an x9303 (found some extra pennies floating around), should be here tommorow morning. Will be switching out those NiMh for some A123 next, But I have to get the Cellpro charger first. Will probably use the 1100's for Ignition and the Dewalt cells on twin leads for the R921.

Sal98,

Since you are going to 2.4ghz, have you considered using one A123 battery for both the receiver and ignition. There are others who are doing this successfully and I'm giving it serious consideration.

You know I've heard people posting comments about that but I just assumed it was either a misprint or a newbie who didn't understand theRFf issues involved. Know that you mentioned it with the 2.4 Ghz reciever a bell finaly went off. Sounds interesting, but I think I will wait for Tom to post first with his Test mule.

I'm not sure if I will be flying anytime soon anyway, the weather seems to be getting worse up here in New York. I can take the cold but the Gusty days is what I fear most.

I am afraid that the weather that we had for the Packers/Giants game is heading your way. The bitter cold was followed by 6"-12" of snow, depending on what part of the state you are in. Hang in there! They tell me spring is on the way!:D

Just recieved my X9303 from fed-ex today, I know feel like even if it snows I'm going to throw skies on this sukhoi and take her up. Beautiful radio, mine actually came with an owners manual and the Trainer switch is a toggle just like the 9C. I thought it would be a pushbutton like the XP9303

The XP9303 is a conventional PPM/PCM radio. The X9303 is 2.4GHz.

Ok my 9303 is of the new 2.4 ghz type and has the button for the trainer. My old 9303 72 band had a toggle where the button is on my new radio and it was heli version. ( I fly heli's also ) . Sal, is the switch you speak of a 3 position switch with flight mode 0,1,2 labeled? and is your throttle stick missing the notchey feeling when you move it up and down, ie smooth? not really a big deal as all of the switches are assignable . I have no problem flying my heli's on an air radio so if you happen to have a heli radio I don't think it matters. If the throttle is smooth you may want to pick up a tensioner with a detent on it to maintain a more fixed throttle position, so rudder inputs don't cause your throttle to change alot while flying

I did order the Heli radio. I fly 3D and every radio I've owned I have worn out the ratchet on the trottle so I just went for the heli version. I do know how to fly heli's, I just never got around to owning my own yet.

So glad you got what you wanted Sal, I know a guy that ordered a 9303 2.4 from Horizon and got a heli version instead of aircraft. he has not even used it yet and is talking about selling it and getting an air version, I may just trade him mine to shut him up... :D
