Dave,
For the upcoming YS160DZ, does it share exactly the same external dimensions as the YS140DZ? For it to be straight swap btw engines? Cos I think there was a little difference btw the 140DZ and L, and would like to confirm this for the 160. Any idea on release to mass markets?
Thanks
Derek

But the horizontal length would be identical? As I will be using the 140DZ for setting up the mount, and was concerned about the clearance btw fuselage and spinner backplate.

I got a YS110 and I am in love with YS engines, I am thinking of getting the YS140 or the YS160, depite costing about as much as a DA50 I am pretty keen on it. Just to ask ... what sort of performance will the YS160 and YS140 give? It would be great if you can let me know what prop size at what RPM ... estimates will be fine. Thanks a lot!!!

Depends on what kind of flying you like to do. I have guys running anything from 15x12- 4 blades to 20x4 wood props. Shoot for 8000 to 8500 rpm with whatever you run and you'll be OK.
Let me know what type flying you intend to do and I'll try to recommend.

Dave ... I am looking at the prop sizes to give me an idea of the engine's power. I know the YS160 costs a lot here, almost the price of a good gasser but after trying out a YS110 I am sold on the idea of owning one of your big bore. I am not getting it for a 3D ship but rather some 1/4 scale plane that will weigh about 10 lbs - 12 lbs max e.g. Carl Goldberg SU26MX, Carl Goldberg Ultimate or Dave Patrick Extra 330L. I am more keen on the 160 than the 140 as both are about the same in dimension. Thanks.

Dave ... 17x12 ... sounds like an electric motor! Just a question ... sorry but I thought its best to ask it here. Might the 160 fly the DPM Extra? Fly as in giving a good vertical only and not about 3D. Anyways, I have ordered my YS160!!!

I am looking at an aerobatic plane with the YS160, just realised that the engine does not come with a pipe. What can I do to get a pipe? Thanks.
