It's me again Dave, I am trying to get the 140L to run with the 20% heli fuel. starting with the high speed needle at 2 1/2 turns out and the low speed 1 1/2 like the book says First start went good until it dies out at high throttle, thought it was too rich, lot of smoke, but leaning it did not seem to help at first but I stayed with it, lean it out a few clicks at a time and reduce throttle if it starts to choke out, go back to high throttle and try again, have done this for a couple of tanks and now have the high speed needle at about 2 turns out, have not touched the low speed, it idles at 2000 and goes to full throttle nicely. So far I am only getting a little more than 6000 at top end but it might not be leaned out enough yet, swinging a 18X8 prop to get around the cowl of my 1/4 Mister Mulligan. How am I doing?

OK, but it's probably still too rich. They usually run at about 1.5 turns open on the high speed.
Have you used the running instruction at www.ysperformance.com yet?
Also, an 18x8 may be a bit much on the 140L. Ideally the engine needs to run at 8000 to 8500 peak. You may just barely get there on the 18x8. Better to load the engine a bit lighter when breaking them in.

OK Dave, I have a Zinger 18x6-10 if, I can get it to ballance. Had read other instructions but not those until now, first time I had heard anything about the regulator adjusyment. I notice they start at 2 turns out where I ended up yesterday probably still too rich like you say.

I have a 140L that runs great for about two flights after which it will not idle midway through the third or forth flight. After it sets for a while it starts and runs fine for about half a tank and then no idle. Tom

I did all that you asked. First flight went well for 10 min then started having trouble with transition from low to high throttle. After 15 min I landed "dead stick" with the engine quitting about 30 ft from the runway. Four more flights provided the same results. Tom
