Default YS 53, problem!

Hi,

I have a YS 53 that runs really bad between idle and mid throttle. It seems like it is running real rich, I can see a large fuel spray going into the carburator at this setting. The engine has very good compression and all new regulator parts. This engine has never preformed good since I bought it. What can I do to get this engine to run correctly? Its going to become a paper weight soon.

Thanks
Keith

Have you tried adjusting the regulator?
Does this engine have the adjustable airbleed?

Let me know.

Default YS 53, problem!

Hi Dave,

I did try to adjust the regulator but it does not clear up the problem in most cases it made it worse. The carburetor does have the air bleed and its adjustments does not seam to make much differance. To get the engine to run at high rpm the main neddle is set at about 1 1/4 turns out. I did set the regulator at the position stated by the manual, that setting did not work either.

Thanks
Keith

Thanks

Aracobra

Did you adjust the low end needle. This will cause the problem that you are stating. The low end needle turns the opposite direction than the high end needle. I had the same problem with one of my 53 engines with this problem.
