Default 110S

OK Troy, spill the beans. A new 110 with a "few minor power tweaks" and an external regulator; if you have the time would you care to elaborate. Do you feel that there will be any power or tunability improvements that would justify ditching a 110FZ. What changes we're made to the head? The latest issue of "Model Aviation" has got a full page add touting the new models. I'm sure there will be lots of interest in the new engines.

Thanks!

Default RE: 110S

Alright the new 110S

Here is what I know.

The 63S used a new linerless head. This allowed for better heat transfer and results is better power and performance. This is the change made to the 110S as well. The external regulator means the fuel is staying colder before it enters the engine, thus it will make more power. In my conversations with Richard I think the new 110S might have this crankshaft ring. This will give the biggest boost in power.

Now the question is How much more power? The answer to this I don't know specifics as I have not run one of the new 110S engines. I have experience with the 110FZ. The new engines should be here very soon as in matter of days or a week or two. I have a 110S on order and will take a good look at it. What ever happens in terms of changes the older version is not obsolete it is just a little different. I have been around YS engines for a long time. All the generations get a little tweak here or there. The changes in power are usually small say 100-300rpm max when they do things like add the crankshaft ring or the results from the 63S with the new linerless head and external regulator.

So I would bet that the 110S will have more power than the current 110FZ but will that difference make a difference to you and I the pilots. Probably not too much. The word I have is the new 110 will basically be able to perform on the level of some of the lower powered 120's. Maybe the original 120SF, the 120NC and the 120FZ will be similar power of the new 110S. The cool thing about the 110 is that its lighter than the 120....where as the 120 weighs the same as the 140 and 160 engines.

The 110S will likely be better at dealing with the heat when doing 3D stuff that puts the engine under load with very little to no airflow. This operation in harsh conditions has been proven with the 63S. I think this is a safe assumption as the results from the 63S are being applied ot the 110.

I'll let you guys know...when I get my engine. probably have it in the air fairly quickly.
