Default YS 110 keeps going dead stick

Is there a tuning guide on how to tune a ys 110s.

This is a new engine and has dead sticked 12 + times.

I use this method of setting up my YS engines:

More info would be helpful, but if the fuel system is set up correctly, the most likely cause of deadsticks is that the engine is overheating. That can have a number of causes.
1. Not enough air flow around the engine
2. Engine is being run too lean
3. Engine is being over proped
Here's a couple more links on setting up and running YS engines.

Hope that helps,

I've been having the same problem with my YS 110S. It runs great in flight, idles fine while in flight, but for some reason it always dies on final approach eventhough I don't touch the idle trim. I'm running CoolPower 30% Heli fuel and a 15x8 prop.

This is one of the first symptoms I started having. I found that the engine didn't always back down to the same idle point. I'd set my trim to idle at 1900, sometimes it would only drop down to 2300. If the engine doesn't drop all the way down to it's lowest point and I set my trim, then it would drop below 1900 when it finally did (on approach, several times). Hope this makes sense. I had to send mine in to YS Parts and Service as it ended up overheating all the time. They have it but haven't started on it yet. I'll post anything I hear if it's at all related.

People seem to think my problems were related to over-propping the engine. What prop and fuel are you using?

what kind of servo are you guys using for throttle?
i ask because i use to have this issue with different engines, and traced it to the servo.
i use Futaba radios and found the standard cheap servos S3004 or S148's would have not so good centering. what happens is the servo never finds the same spot when throttled down. i now use S9001's or other precision servos and get the same exact idle drop when throttling down.

Got it fixed.

Here's the fix:

I sold that POS for 200.00 bucks, took that money and added some to it, and set in a OS 120 FS where the ys was, and it performs perfect.

Well YS engines are not for everybody and I've seen folks at our club buy 'em after they saw mine perform despite my warnings that these engines are not for the faint of heart, only to get rid of 'em when they either refused to follow the tuning tips or just figured they knew better.

While you may be happy with your decision, there's a Funtana 90 at our club with that exact engine on it and my Funtana 90 has the YS-110. The OS powered one won't do what mine will....

I wish I had seen that deal, not that I need another YS, but I love getting these engines cheap.
