THANK YOU, GO RATE IT, lol, all I got to do now, is stop it from EATIN SPUR GEARS

Try putting a steel washer on the top motor mount screw , mine used to slip on me till I did this . AE should have made the motor mount screws 3mm .

Well , it started life as a stock RC18MT , I am running a 14 tooth pinion gear now with the smaller tires .....

Then I went all aluminum on it , not recommended unless you want a shelf queen ....

They are Team Losi Smasher rear Mini T wheels .

It handles the brushless system just fine , after putting in MIP super diffs and CVD's . With a 3s LiPo I can do a backflip from a standing start on carpet . Still have the stock diff gears too , but I am going too the metal ones when they wear out .

If you notice I am using a set of rear shocks on the front end to get more suspension travel off road , it works great and I can land some pretty huge jumps and it barely gets outta line .

Those are 3 Racing shocks (best deal for the RC18MT/T/B

Here's mine...this is my first attempt at a paint job too, so you have to cut me some slack! My upgrades are the Futaba Fasst 2.4 system, threaded shocks, and a lipo. I'll be going brushless in a week or so.

Looks good werfliss , mini bodies can be harder to do than larger ones depending on the paint .

I will have a new body painted by the weekend , looking for some shelf liner to do a CF scheme .....

thanks alot KRO for rating my vid, yeah, I should do it, lol, yeah, last time I checked my motor temps (which was when jumping some more, not as much as the other time though, due to the stupid SPUR AGAIN), I read a motor case temp of 204 degrees farenheit and the comutator (read through the air vent), was 224 deg, so, I need some NEW gearing, running 10T, thinking 13-15???

10/60 is the lowest you can go , if you put on a larger pinion you will get more heat .

Does youre drivetrain bind at all , are you setting the mesh correctly ? The Team Orion BAJA motor I used to run didnt get that hot . Something is causing your heat issue ....

Get MIP super diffs and CVD's , the stock drivetrain doesnt last very long when you go brushless ..... At least mine didnt .

Just stopping in to say hi, this is my first post on here. I have a rc18t and a rc18mt. The 18t is hopped up just a bit but running the stock motor for now. Planning to go brushless in it soon. I am waiting for the mt to come from a ebay auction. It should be here in the next couple of days. I already have a few parts waiting for it. I will post up pics of them soon.

no, the drivetrain doesn't bind PIEROD, maybe it is due to the spur being chewed up, I am thinking the heat of the motor is causing the teeeth to get soft, and when you press the throttle, soft plastic + torque = deformation [&o], the motor is prety new, but I have done some highspeed passes... with it, so, that is maybe what caused it to begin to wear out, the only time I have been able to get the motor (roughly), that hot, was after driving ALOT in super soft soil, with no gear cover, other than that, I have no clue [&:]

Thanks KRO, I'll just take a little more time with the next one and mask it better. It was a lot of fun to do. What's a CF scheme?..I'm new to this.

LOL ... CF means Carbon Fiber . You can use that rubber drawer/shelf liner to make simulated carbon fiber.

I have a RC18MT [stock] and was wondering about the hole on the underside, under the motor. It seems like it would let in a lot of dirt, and the motor's vent slot is right there too.I havnt been able to run it outside yet [nonstop rain] but I imagine dirt and small rocks in there wont make it run too good..............didnt find any mention in this thread...........

Anyone having a problem with the hole there?

I used some window/door screen that I slid under the motor any larger particles out and still allow air flow.

Has anyone covered theirs completely with no problems? The hole seems to be there cause the cans too big, dont know if airflow is even an consideration.

any thoughts would be great, thanks!

I did not cover the hole because I don't want to motor to overheat, if and when rocks or dirt get in there, clean the thing. I bought a gear cover so the only other thing I should worry about is dirt getting into the esc, and with a little electrical tape, that'll be no problem.

I did install the new Hitec metal gear servo, and I can tell you that was an experience! I cut one of the arms off of the stock hold down and used the remaining arm to hold the servo in place on one side. I used servo tape between the hold down and also between the chassis and servo. To have extra stability and for insurance that the servo tape will do it's job, I notched the top of the remaining hold down and I ran a ziptie over the servo and the notch in the top of the hold down will make sure the the ziptie will not slip off. Also, the stock saver/horn will not fit on the metal gear, I have no servo saver, I used hitec's arm and had to ream the holes a little bigger for the ball stud to fit.

I'll take pics later, it's really an odd job.

Hi -
Been looking around and searching posts with RC18 in subject line. I have an 18T clone and have couple of questions -

What 2S LiPo fits with out doing any mods? Links would be very helpful.
Also what other bodies fit? Seems like MiniT might not be a good choice.

Thanks -

It's a 18T knock-off brushless RTR setup off EBay

Link to my post about it:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6858810/tm.htm

Auction site bought it from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/18T-1-18-Brushle...QQcmdZViewItem

QUOTE FROM OTHER THREAD:
First impressions -
I really like it. I am a bit of a speed freak though. I am used to 540 size Hack C40 5 Turn motor in my Micro RS4. So a 4500 kv motor designed for 18th scales are nice for my kids but not fast enough for me.

Already have one minor issue. I took it out after putting Deans pulgs on the little thing and the screw that hods the servo horn on the steering servo came out so no steering until I find another screw small enough for the hole. That is very minor but a bit frustrating since that was my first run.

Handles extremely well for being a 18T clone. Took it up to local hobby shop to compare it to real 18T it is exact replica. Have not put any one or purchased any but looked as if all the hop-ups for 18T fit onto this.

Already took some pics but none outside because to dark. Will post them in next couple of days.
