removing the saver is very bad. you could get the upgrade metal clip that fits the saver.

That really just depend on the car and the servo. In my case I used a servo that I have left over from an 1/8 scale truggy. considering the weight difference between the 1/8 scale that it used to be in and the 1/18 scale it is in now I think it can handle the "stress" this little truck will give it. Also this servo is metal geared so it is quite strong. I am pretty sure the steering link would break before the servo would need any saving!

The steering is awesome now compared to the stock micro servo with the servo saver. But that probably goes without saying!

i meant the steering will now take a beating. it don't take long for it to start bending and going loose

I am using lundsford titanium turnbuckles and the stock steering parts will flex if/when they need to.

I am having some issues with the diffs on this truck. I heard the diffs on the rc18's were stronger than most other 1/18 scale rc which one of the main reasons I got them. But when I got them the front diff on one of the trucks was needing replacement which I did replace with a stock plastic geared diff and it was fine for a while but I noticed it started to click under hard accelleration. I know runnning brushless is hard on diffs, so I figured that was the reason why the diff was starting to go bad. So I ordered some steel diffs from the toyz along with some other parts and I just finished replacing the front and rear diffs with the new steel ones. but as I am putting them into the diff cases I see that there is some side to side movement. this obviously isn't right. the front diff will move abouta 1/16 of an in to the side when I hold on to the outdrives and try to move it. the rear diff moves considerably less but it still moves a bit. are there any shims available to eliminate this issue? or am I the only one who is having this problem? It isn't the new steel diff gears that are the problem since I tried it with the other stock diffs and they all move too.anybody have any suggestions for me??

BTW: here are some pics of the truck that is completed. I had it running this evening before I took the diffs apart and with this new gearing it is scarey fast! This is going to be one fun truck once I figure out hoe to shim the diffs! I will have to post some vids of it once i get it right.

they sell shims but i think you only get 4 per pack. the reasons some diffs move is the gearbox will flex over time. as for plastic gears they will start to click even when shimmed right because they start to overheat then flex. also never re tighten diffs while hot. i did it with plastic ones and it destroyed it. lol

Look for " RC18T 4mm & 8mm Axle Shim Set",
Nice truck - what kind of wing is that?
I've been having trouble with my diffs and im not even brushless yet.

Thanks I will pick up some of those shims. the wing is the rc18b mount with the rc18r wing. I don't think you can put the wing mount on the stock rc18t shock towers since they are missing some holes but it will work with the RPM shock towers. I am hoping these steel diffs will hold out for a while.

I do still need to get the proper shims but i did come up with a quick fix for the diffs.

I took some insulation from some 14 gauge wire and put it inside one the the outdrives to make the driveshaft fit tight enough to hold the diff from moving from side to side. I used to use fuel tubing all the time on my 1/10 and 1/8 scale nitros to get drive shaft to sit where I wanted them to, so the wire insulation works the same way on a smaller scale.

I just took the truck out for a test run and the diffs seem to be great so far I did some speed runs on 3s and this has got to be one of the fastest RCs I have ever owned. I will need to get it speed checked soon to see what exactly its doing. I am guessing 65+mph. I chased it with my SUV earlier this week and it was doing 40 even with the gearing I was running but with the gearing change I made it should easily hit 65 mph. The calculator I use said it would hit 74mph but with drag I think 65 MPH is a conservative estimate. next will be a higher kv motor!

one more thing... don't use the GPM aluminum spur. I ordered it because it had the fewest number of teeth I could find. but it will not fit onto the drive shaft. it is a very tight fit and WILL NOT fit all the way down. I will just have to stick with the associated 55t spur.

how does it feel doing 65mph?
Do you have the wide track lower arms?

this truck is actually very stable. I don't know if they are the wide track arms or not. As far as I know they are just the stock arms. I actually don't know what speed I am running exactly but it feels every bit as fast as my Mach 427 powered RC10GT that I have clocked at 67mph. How it feels really depends on where I am running it. If I run out in the street in front of my house I can't get it up to speed and it feels less stable just because there isn't as much open space and there are too many cars parked on the street. But I have a large open parking lot that I can get some good speed runs in and it feels more stable there just because of the open space. I am going to get the wheel adaptors for it that will let me use 1/10 sale touring foams and that should help some as well.

Here is a quick vid of the RC18. the quality isn't great and I really couldn't get any speed runs since the parking lot was too rough but here is it anyway.

It wasn't going very fast probably not much over 30. it was my first time running at that parking lot. I will need to take it to better lot for some speed runs.

anybody use this body on the rc18t? It looks more like for the 18R since it fits over the wheels. It says it will work with the 18T but I want to make sure before I order it. I think it will be more aerodynamic for speed runs.

it says for the rc 18T it would be good to see a 18T go really fast with a nice down force body.

I have been looking around and I found several places that say it will work with the 18T so I think I will order it if I can find a place that has it in stock and see how it works.

Lets see if these link work any better. there are 2 bodies I am curious about. they should provide better downforce if they fit. I am currently running 1/10 touring foam tires that will probably be too big so I might just get the LRP foams for the 18T. they would probably fit better with one of these bodies.

I like the Carolina body and I agree 1/10 tires will be too big.

I like the look of the carolina body better also but I think the Tri-City body would provide more downforce.
