Default jamara pilatus turbo porter arf?

Loopman, I also own a Jamara Porter. The only thing left to do is install the engine & tank. I'm thinking of using an Saito 150. I have one on hand, what do you think? I've been undecisive for some time now. I thought about mounting it inverted, but again, I don't know. I also upgraded to sullivan pushrods, and heavy duty control horns for the elevator. I went with the supplied ball links and servo hatch provided. I thought the kit was excellent even though the instructions were in GERMAN! But, after many hours of staring at the pile of parts, I got it all together. My gas grill was'nt as lucky!! I thought about installing a hatch to access the fuel tank/fire wall. There is no way my hand will fit in there! Anyway good luck with yours, keep us posted

Default Pilatus Porter

Shotguneddy,
I lost my first Pilatus when my home burned but have since replaced it. It is awaiting construction at a friend's house. My ST2300 was damaged in the fire and I have replaced it with a Saito 150. I hope to have it in the air within the next month or so. I believe the linkages supplied will be sufficient but I still plan on replacing the control rods with Sullivan "Precision" rod. I believe I can get the fuel tank installed without installing a hatch. Hope you enjoy yours, let me know how it goes!

Happy Flying!

Default jamara pilatus turbo porter arf?

I just bought the jamara porter. It is a Jamra Blue and silver with 95in wingspan. I got it from EMA ion Texas and it came with no instructions at all. I am puzzled about how the struts are mounted. It is a Jamra Blue and silver with 95in wingspan. Is there supposed to be a fitting on the fuse to receive the aluminum angle iat the end of the strut? I dont see any appropriately reinforced spot on the fuse and wondered if you got any instructions that showed how the strut is mounted. On the wing there is a ply section with a 1/4" whole to accept the fitting on the upper end of the strut but how do you fasten it? I noticed that you had a post about this plane and wondered how you anchored your struts. Alsoo what engine did you finally use? I was going to try a saito 72 4S.

I just received my Blue and Silver Jamara Pilatus, also from EAM. Did you get yours in a Jamara box? I got mine as loose parts in two plain boxes, with *lots* of packing material. Nothing broken though, but I won't know if anything's missing for a while since while I did recieve instructions, they're 100% in German, which I don't read. They're also Xerox copies, and real fuzzy ones at that. I don't see any pictures of the strut attachment, so I can't help you there. I've emailed EAM to ask about the English version, so we'll see if they come through.

Also, did your kit come with a blue tail, or white? And is the cowl white, or blue and silver (or were there blue and silver decals for it)? Their web site photo shows a blue tail and blue and silver cowl. Given they charge $30 extra for the blue and silver version, I feel this is unacceptable. Again, I emailed them about it, and we'll see what they say.

I was thinking of using an RCV 120SP in it. It looks like it would fit perfectly under the cowl.

Just go my jamara pilatus porter 96" ARTF seems nice kit but all in German

Achtung
Anyone know the CofG and throws recommended ?

Also I need a good 30mins flying time and I think the 14oz 400ml supplied tank a bit small for a 2stroke 1.08 or ST2300 any suggestions on tank size for 30 mins otherwise i'm putting in a 24oz or 32oz tank ?

I BELIEVE I HAVE THE SAME ARF PORTER YOU HAVE. CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT.
INEED NEW WINDSHIELD AND COWLING.
I USE TO FLY IT WITH A U.S. ENGINE 41cc NOW I AM INSTALLING A FUJI 32CC.
THE PLANE HAS ALWAYS FLOWN GREAT. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE SLIDING CARGO DOORS AND ADD A SKY DIVER.

I have a Porter like the one pictured above. This is the early, non-turbo version. I believe it was a Czeck ARF. No Dihedral, bolt on tail and rudder.

I am flying mine with a First Place Engines 1.3, and it flies very scale. Everything fits in the cowl. I imagine a Zenoah, G 26, Fuji 32 or G 38 would be great. I also know people have flown these with 50's for glider towing.

I believe the wingspan is 80". I used Hobby Lobby servo pockets, and reversed them, gluing them into the wing, to make a removable servo system. THe only thing touchy was cutting the windscreen.

I don't know anout the Jamara version. It looks good though.

Wing span is 96" I believe. I had one at one time as well with a G38 mounted.

Looks like one that was being sold early ninties from a site in New England. G38 was the engine of choice if I remember correctly.

I just finished one and flew it this past weekend. Here's some info:

Center of Gravity 95mm behind the leading edge (very good location, very stable )
Elevator 18 mm on both sides
Rudder 50mm on both sides
Aileron 30mm up, 25mm down
Flaps 30mm down

These are the recommend beginning settings and work quite well. I have English instructions if you have any questions. They are a poor copy but I could try and copy them for you if you like just let me know your email address.

Send me the video link when you post it. I emailed the instructions. Note that the Hatch on top will blow off unless you come up with an additional latching system. I just used 2 strips of velcro myself.

Hi,

I have just been given a jamara 95" pilatus porter and I have found this old threat. It is the same blue/ silver model that is above.
I'd like to power it with a gas engine but I am not sure if the firewall will be strong enough for a gas engine. I have to decide between a dle 20cc ra or a dle 35cc ra.

Any recomendación or advice from someone that had this plane would be appreciated

Thank you oldvet70 for such a quick reply!!!

I think I will somehow reinforce the firewall and the dle 20cc ra will be me choice. It is almost the same size/power of your O.S. 120

I haven't been able to fine them but a friend posted pics of mine many years back.
White with orange lettering that read MOUNTAIN RESCUE.
Powered by a Saito 180 with pump, great plane.
