Most of those pilots have invested a lot of time, sweat and money to become the skilled pilots that they are!

I nominate this quote for "funniest quote of the year" on the Basin thread.
I will second that!!

I am going to call my cousin in england and
get some of that heavy duty toilet paper,
maybe I can sell it to the rude squadron and
make enough money to buy a turbine.
p s,they make it because they are all hard
asses over there.

Try the John Wayne Brand, it's rough, tough and doesn't take S5!T from anybody, that's why it's a good deal

I saw the bench back in it's rightful place today..[8D]

Just a reminder about alt limits.
The airport police paid a visit today. The tower received two complaints today.
I heard they were out last weekend too.

If you think your at 400ft, fly a little lower just to be on the safe side...........

Like the cop said, "We have to police ourselves". If everyone told one person, "seriously, we have to watch our altitude especially when there is a full size around, even if it is off in the distance over Victory, they can still see what's ahead of them."
There are ALOT of new guys flying who have no idea of these issues. Time to do some "spring cleaning" if you will.

Hi gents
This is a public notice from the Parks that I received today.
Due to heavy rains, The ApolloXI facility will be closed all Saturday.
This is in effect unless there is a drastic chabge in the weather.

Greetings Fellow Flyers,
Well, this goes to show: You cannot control Mother Nature. The Recs and Parks have currently CLOSED the Sepulveda Basin because of the rains and the chance of flooding. The Numb Thumb Fun Fly / Night Fly originally scheduled for this Saturday, Feb 7th is therefore cancelled.

Don't despair: Take this opportunity to do some building, repairing, general tinkering, or spending time around the house or with your family, because the flying conditions won't be very favorable at the Apollo XI Field, sanctioned event or otherwise, on Saturday.

We've added: A Valley Flyers Membership Fun Fly and Swap Meet on Sunday, February 22nd. Come on out with your current VF Membership card or number and Fly for FREE that day. Haven't renewed your 2009 membership yet? Now is the time to do so online or by mail or bring the low, low annual dues of just $25 for an adult member to the Fun Fly on February 22nd and you will be set for the remainder of the year... including our BBQ and other FREE Fun Flys on our schedule. If you've already renewed, THANK YOU for your support; your membership card will be sent soon if you haven't already gotten it by mail or at the AMA Expo, or you may pick it up at the field on Feb 22nd or at the next Club meeting on Tuesday, February, 24th.

In a few days, look to our web site for an updated Apollo XI Field Event Schedule. Of note, the 3-day Western States All-Electric Extravaganza has been moved to June 6-8. The next event in line after the February 22nd Fun Fly is the SAE-sponsored Aero Design West Collegiate Design & Fly competition. You are invited to experience this interesting and amazing team contest event as a spectator or an event official. You may contact me for more information.

Until next time, this RC eMinder is putting its umbrella up, water- proofing its balsa, and generally keeping its pistons dry...

Best Regards,
Sam Gengo

Does anyone know where can we find current status of the road closures in Sepulveda Basin? I drove to Apollo XI today just to find out that it is impossible to get there due to the street closures. If there is no such web site where we can find this info, I would suggest either to start a new tread or to use this one for that purpose.

Therefore, let me start by saying DO NOT GO TODAY TO APOLLO XI FIELD!!! Burbank Blvd is closed from Hayvenhurst Ave to Sepulveda Blvd and Woodley Ave is closed from Victory Blvd to Burbank Blvd.

I don’t know for how long this street closure will last. I hope it will open for Sunday. Please, if someone knows the status of these streets on Sunday, February 08, let us know.

The army core of engineers in Sepulveda basin.
