Homelite 30cc blower
I have a 25cc Homelite trimmer conversion. Does anyone know if the prop hub from this 25 will fit a Homelite 30cc blower engine? I don't know if the cranks are the same or not. Also; how about the flywheel? Is it the same tapered crankshaft? Thanks

It will work. All of the recent Homelite engines have a 5/16 - 24 threaded crank shafts. There is very little difference between the 25cc and 30cc engine so all the conversion parts out there for the 25cc engine will interchange.

RE: Homelite 30cc blower
I am converting a 30cc Homelite blower engine. If you check my thread you will find all the particulars. The blower shaft is not the same as the trimmer shaft! I am using the shaft out of another Homelite I have. The blower shaft is longer than the long trimmer shaft with a flat at the end and the threads are at the end. Any Homelite long shaft will fit and is tapped so it is easy to install a spinner. These blowers cost less than a new cylinder and piston and the new cylinders are much improved over the old ones. I am anxious to find out how they perform.

RE: Homelite 30cc blower
The transfer ports on the old 30cc cylinder work on the 25cc crankcase, the port area on the case should be matched to the 30cc cylinder which is larger. I don't think the new cylinder will fit on the old case because of the size of the transfer ports.
The 30cc piston has windows above the wrist pin to compensate for the case obstructing the transfers.

As you can see...I have a Supertiger Carb off a .90 engine. I plan to run it on glow fuel. I want max power, with least weight. What prop shoud I have on it? Thanks Capt,n

Hi CaptinJohn,
Careful... I looked into this a while back. Several sources said that I could use a 30cc piston/cylinder on a 25cc bottom end, but further research indicated I would probably encounter vibration problems due to an out of balance condition with the 25cc crank in the combination. To save any such grief, I bought a couple of 30cc Homelite blowers off e-bay, and used the complete engine. It's worth it though. My hopped up Homey 30cc turns an APC 16 x 8 prop at 9500 rpms on gasoline, and weighs about 2 ounces less than my Homey 25cc engines.
Good luck,
AV8TOR

Av8tor: I was just wondering. I was not going to try swaping cylinders. I think my 25cc engine on glow may turn some good RPM. I think it will be lighter than any other 25cc Hommie when done. Thanks Capt,n

You've probably been following the other threads... These engines on glow only need about 2 to 3% oil as opposed to the normal 17 to 22 percent found in glow fuels. Cut your glow fuel with methanol to lower the oil content, and cut costs at the same time.
