Trust me brushless is the only way, i sware by the yeahracing/hobbywing 35a esc & motors, im now running 3 of them & cant complain one bit.
Mines got a few upgrades but these things love been brushless my only mistake was i should of got a higher kv motor, but geared up on 11.1v it goes like a treat, just need to see some drift track time to get the setup even better.

see how it goes but ur first upgrade for durability should be the hpi alloy main shaft, Preformance- brushless, Handling- HPI Oil filled Shocks

Got my ESC all in. Got Deans plugs on it and the battery. Using the bullet plugs that came with the motor for motor connection. Ordered a Thunder AC680 charger, that will be here Fri. I got a 2S/3S charger but I also ordered a 1/8 scale crawler , so i figured I might as well get a charger that will do everything. Also ordered 2 hot racing( I think thats who makes them) shock struts for the E10. They allow you to use most on road shocks. I got a set from my nitro 4 tec. I kind of mocked them up to make sure they would work before I ordered the braces. I think they will. I'll post picks when I get them installed.

HaHAhahaha, Just ordered a set of bearings. Saw the ad here for Boca bearings and checked it out. Found there stanard bearing set for 13.99. Did a quick search for a discount code and got 10% off. So I paid 12.59 for a set of 14 bearings with free shipping. I'm going to have to sell my new tmaxx 4908 just to keep buying for my E10.

Whoa! Is that a 'muuuuaahhhhaaahaa' mad RC shopper type laugh? LOL! Be careful or you'll also consider selling your first born too! LOL! Just kidding.

You're really hooked it seems. Showed a friend photos of my RCs and now he's hooked too. He just bought a TT-01 BMW kit, battery, charger, tools, etc. About $400.00 in one shot. He has no experience what so ever and he's already talking about brushless and LIPO. mmmmmuuuuuaaahhhaaahhaaaa! Easy man easy! LOL!

I actually have that setup in an off-road RC of mine and it's awesome. I have been wondering the exact same question about Lipo. I also an curious of how well it works in an E10 as I am considering upgrading later. How is it for drifting? Is the E10 handling the power?

highly recomend lipos, a 7.4v lipo is compareable with a 8.4v nimh, but the lipo will hold over 8.4v for longer. For example my slash goes hard for the first 10% of the battery then goes normal for the rest, but the lipo goes even harder and lasts untill the battery is nearly flat.

but..... i dont really stuff around with 7.4v lipo's any more, if u have a ezrun 35a esc, go straight to 11.1v lipo and solder the fan onto the bec, then u can use any voltage batter and the fan will allways be 6v

11.1v and a very tall gearing, easy twice as fast

ive been using cheap ones from ebay. the tricky part is finding one the right size. mesure the nimh pack and the hole for the battery. then just search for the cheapest 11.1v that fits, try to look for around/over 3000mah.
i was using a tiny 11.1v 2200mha good for around 10min

i found i was running mine on both 2s 7.4v and 3s 11.1v
rather than swaping the esc fan each time i swaped battery. i soldered the fan wires onto the esc bec for the reciver. now my fan allways runs at 6v rather than battery voltage. yes the fan runs a tiny bit slower but ive never had the esc hot to the touch. i often wonder if a 35a esc really needs a fan at all.
ive just put one of these esc into a small water/air tight box. so far so good

going lower on the pinion will reduce load on the motor, increase torque and lower top speed.
my last setup was 3900kv 11.1v 34t pinion. the pinion is so big the cover wont fit lol

Can you post a photo of the location were the fan should be soldered?

here ya go, very hard to see, but the fan was soldered with the red wire for the on/off switch, Now u need to move it to the red wire that goes to the reciver.

I got my car going with everything working. I only tested it slightly inside. Making sure the esc was programmed and the radio was working. All I can say is WOW this thing is going to be crazy.
I may have to do the fan rewiring myself. I read you can plug it into the 3rd channel of the receiver( if you have 3) instead of resoldering.
I am running a 3300 2s 25c I got from hobbypartz. Its the gens ace and it's $20.21.It fits but I need to put some foam under it so it dont move around an touch the drive shaft. But I may go to 3s soon, and need to get more pinion gears. Only have stock 1 at the moment.

Yeap. That's what I did for my offroad. Plugged it straight into ch3 on the receiver (the orange connector).

The first thing about lipos is u need a low voltage cut off, brushless esc have them inbuilt. Because if thay get to flat thay cant be saftly charged
second u will need a lipo ballance charger, dont ever use a nimh or a nicd charger

ok lipo's are caterised, for example 2s, means it has 2 cells. 3s means 3 cells, etc. Each cell is 3.7v
1s= 3.7v 2s=7.4v 3s=11.1v.
the 35c means the amps it can be discharged
for example that battery is 3500mah and 35c "3500/1000=3.5, 3.5x35=122.5" meaning u can discharge it at 122.5amps
and its max charge rate is 1c "3500/1000=3.5, 3.5x1=3.5" 3.5amps (thay say 5amps but thay are wrong)

Ive been looking at getting that exact one for another car lol, just check the mesurements to make shure it will fit.
it is a soft pack/case lipo, but its well protected in the e10's chassis

Yes guys if ur fan has a reciver style plug u can just plug it into the reciver into the 3ch or the batt ch, but mine was soldered to the ESC so i just moved 1 wire compared to 2.

Did a few more things to my E10. Got the HR shock towers on, and installed some nitro 4 tec shocks. Installed YR drive shafts. Put a heat sink/fan on the motor. Take a look Oh and got the bearings installed.

Just putting out a feeler. would anyone be interested in my E10? It would be a roller. No electronics( radio tx rx,esc, motor)
I installed the yeah racing steering, center drive shaft, I will include the rear shaft but it's not installed yet. It's got hot racing shock towers on it which allow you to use most 10th scale shocks. I put nitro 4 tec shocks on it. It has a full set of bearings in, plus I will include 8 extra's. I got them from boca bearings. It is new. I never run it. Look at a couple pages back and you will see whenI got it and some pics. I will be looking to get like $130 shipped to the lower 48. I will include the original box and manual. Let me know what you think.

Hey guys i got some bad news i have had this hpi e10 for almost 3 months and i moded the motor to a brushless 5800kv fuze and esc after the mod the car was running fine. Then i put some on road tires to get some traction car ran great. for a couple of weeks all of a sudden it stopped rolling freely by that i mean when id give it full throttle and take it up to high speeds it would roam freely like you would put a car in neutral which seemed normal. Now the car slows down way to fast and it seems like i ware out the spur gear when that happens. Thats why i think the spur gear is waring out because it wont roam in neutral anymore. Please help?? been through an alumunium spur gear already and that lasted 1 battery pack. If any of you guys can help me get my car back to running normal i would appreciate it and like i said it doesnt roll in nuetral anymore the the pinion gear and spur gear is waring out because it slows down. thanks
