txshan,
How was the performance with the K100? would you recomend flying it with a K80? or was the K100 the ticket? I ask because im selling the P80 for a better suited motor for my Tornado I baught from Sam. I appreciate any info you can give.

Thanks alot,
Cole

ds,

You shouldn't need a trailer. Mine fits just fine in my Navigator. Your Escalade is about the same size. The trickis to shove it in far enough that you take advantage of the extra width by the rear doors.

I put mysecond row seats down and put it in nose first at an angle similar towhat's in your picture. I have to lift the right wingup as I slide it in until I get past the cargo area. The nose isall the way to the left just behind the drivers seat. The right wing is near the center of the right rear door. It sits there just fine with several inches of clearance all around. I've had my Falcon 120 for 5 years now and put hundreds of flights on it and I've never hadto take the wings or booms off for transportation. It fit in my old Ford Expedition the same way.

Give it a try.

strange about the fuel issue. I have the Jet Central Rabbit. I fly aggressive for 7 minutes and have 2 go arounds if needed. I have been told this engine is very fuel efficient. My timer is set for 7 minutes and then I get in the pattern and have fuel left when I land for a go around. Less expensive engine may have less in some areas? I think its not good that all the components are internal. Everytime you have an issue the en goes back, lost flight time. Unless the company is letting the user take apart the engine? Jet Central will try to troubleshoot over the phone and send you what you what you need if not you send it in. Not sure about King Teck. Jet Central s turn around time isn short. The other big company has made people wait for 3 months for a simple bearing change, not good.

I have a Mountaineer which is the same as an Explorer. I leave the wings on but have to take the booms off. It is a tight fit to get it in with the wings on but it fits in on an angle. No idea how it could fit with the booms on.

ORIGINAL: txshan130

Dslivingston,

I know someone who keeps the wings on and transports it in an Explorer I think. He made some rails that he installed in the back of the truck and then places the jet on the rails...that gets him a few inches of space to allow the wings to fit. Not easy, but easier than removing the wings I think..

That looks like it would fit to me. With the booms off I put mine in and have to tilt it at a 30 degree angle and put a transmitter case under the one wheel. You could probably do the same thing and fit it in your car with the booms on.

Well I went to fly my Tornado yesterday and guess what? It wll not fit in an Escalade. Out shopping for a 8 x 18 trailor today.
Do not believe what a salesman will tell you when ordering something. It's really my fault I should have done my own measuring. What the heck ... I needed a trailor anyway.

Are you still flying the Red Bull scheme, I have to say when you did that re-cover I thought it looked really good.

The plastic tank holds exactly 74oz. Also BEWARE!!!! if you fly to hard with a K-100 you can and will bend the wing rods!!!! Suggest finding a hardwood dowl to fill the aluminium rod or find a carbon fiber replacements. Looked like a bent wingCorsairaftersome yanking & banking.

Always was a weak spot, in the early days of the Falcon some even had them fail completely in flight, the upgrade was as you say. put a dowel inside the Ali tube.

Thanks, Mike. It's still going strong. I'm waiting for this wet April weather to improve so I can start flying it again.

Ok...if anyone finds a source or size for the dowel to go inside the wing tube, please post it.  Would like to do this ASAP before we have issues :-)

Still looks as good as I remember it, or is that an archive pic.

Weather here is about the same, today we have high winds, really played havoc with my casting.

Take your aluminum tube and go to Home Despot - find one that is close and, if necessary, sand a bit to fit then epoxy into place.

Henry I need a little clarification please. I've seen in this forum where P80s are NOT recommended but K80s are highly recommended. Both engines weigh approx 2.9 lbs including starter and the P80 is only about 5/8" bigger in diameter. Aside from the 2-3 lbs more thrust from the P80 is there another reason it is not recommended? Thanks for your advise.

The P80 or now the new P90RXI is a great turbine. The reason we don't reccomend it is due to its size. We make the motor mounts to fit the smaller diameter turbines. It's not a thrust limit but size limit. We have had several customers use P80's but they have had to make a customer motor mount.

Thanks

Hey Guys,
Can any body tell me or put up pics of how to set up the canopy to the plastic tub, & how they hold it on to the fuse, I'm sure this has been shown on this site before but there is so many pages of ref to the Tornado it would take me days to go through it to find the page on fitting canopy to tub / fuse.
Thanks.

Go to the top of this page and select "Gallery" .  You will then see all the pics ever posted.  Much easier than sorting thru 150 pages of posts.

Here's how we did the canopy...used the included latch. All very secure.
