Why don't you sell the p80 and buy your self a k100. More power less weight much faster spool up time warranty etc.
The Merlin series mike mentioned are also excellent but a bit more expensive than the kingtech.
You'll be much happier with the airframe as a whole with a k80/100.
The p80 will make it extremely tail heavy which you will counter with lots of nose weight which will
significantly increase wing loading. Then you'll have to deal with additional stress on the Airframe and gear from all
the increased weight, and reduced flight time from the increased fuel burn.
I understand the budget part most all of us have been there.
But if its a matter of holding off a few months to fly and get a better suited engine...i would personally wait.
Besides why come on here asking opinions of the p60 vs k80
to just say the p80 is all you have and that will be the engine you use????

i really do appreciate the honest information guys..i guess ill post the engine up for sale and see about buying a kingtech..which i know would be the better option for me..im looking at buying the ptoling gear set for the airplane so waiting a bit to get the better motor is worth it to me as well..
I already baught the airframe so im commited for sure..so ill work some black magic and see what i cam come up with.

Hi all
finally my Jet is ready to go. Now only the weather has to improve and I can maiden her.
But spring is definitely around the corner. Unfortunately for this weekend the forecast says 35 miles/h wind [&o]
Here are some facts:
JetsMunt VT80 with 8Kg thrust
Hitec HS-645MG on aileron
Futaba S3152 on flaps
4 x Hitec HS-5085MG on elevator and rudder
TowerPro MG995MG front steering wheel
Electric retracts from Lado
Weight (empty main tank and full header tank): 7.5kg
The last thing to do is to get the CoG right. At the moment the plane is tail heavy and I definitely don't want that.
So, no more excuses. But I am actually looking forward to fly it for the first time.

Im getting closer to maiden'ing my jet, same colour scheme as 'uixkes' above. Does anyone know where to find solar film or other brand of yellow covering? The ones I've seen in the model shops just arent the right shade of yellow.
I had to do a few minor repairs to the balsa sheet on the wing, and need the right colour to go back on top!
Also what are people using to centre their front strut? I've seen some nifty wire devices which keep it tracking straight, can these be picked up anywhere?

That scheme looks awesome, but why did you put your gauges and fill valve on the outside???

Well I went to fly my Tornado yesterday and guess what? It wll not fit in an Escalade. Out shopping for a 8 x 18 trailor today.
Do not believe what a salesman will tell you when ordering something. It's really my fault I should have done my own measuring. What the heck ... I needed a trailor anyway.

Sandy,
The maiden went great...only needed 1 click of up and 2 right. CG per manual but showed 2.0 lbs on the nose gear. We glassed the booms and our weight came in at 19 lbs even with UAT full. Maybe a touch heavy for version 4 but it wasn't noticeable on landing. Love the K100G...so far has worked well.

Version 3 has composite booms. the latest version does not. I don't mind the weight and like the added strength and durability...had no cc issues with ecu battery in mid-cabin by steering servo. We got 6 flights in on Sunday. Great vertical with the K100 but taking out the smoke system and maybe replacing it with a header tank to get a little more flight time..we're a bit on the short side at about 4.5 minutes.

Dslivingston,
I know someone who keeps the wings on and transports it in an Explorer I think. He made some rails that he installed in the back of the truck and then places the jet on the rails...that gets him a few inches of space to allow the wings to fit. Not easy, but easier than removing the wings I think..

Joseph - we weren't taking the tank down that far as I couldn't see exactly how much was left in it..and we obviously were landing with enough for at least 2 go arounds, but it still seemed pretty empty after 4.5 minutes. Maybe there was more in there than I thought...will investigate a bit more. I think the new plastic tank is a few ounces smaller than the last fiberglass tank in the Ver 3. Maybe someone else could confirm that, but I was told by someone that its at least 5 ounces smaller...
