Welcome to the new guys all ideas are welcome

Got my piano hinges and got a prelimanary fit on the tail wheel doors. I used some carbon fiber to replace the stringer i removed and added some thin ply to screw the hinges to .I ll still have to add more screws and epoxie the hinges to the door and try to get a better fit .If i cant get a better fit i will add some 1/16 balsa sheathing or light automotive filler to get the fit i desire .now the hard part figuring out how to get them to open and close

Hi Cimara

It may take a little looking but over on RCSCALEBUILDER there is a P-47 thread by Connery and he has a neet simple system if that wont work there is a corsair thread hear on RCU but I would have to do some looking to find it

With the weather like it has been wind rain good days when I can't get off, now wind 20 to 30 cust to 50 so the hanger queen is still sitting waiting for a maiden, but will post pic's when it does fly.

Has any one had any truble contacting Fiber Glass Specialties lately?? can't get there web site to come up.

Thanks Winston. She's a dry transfer from Getstencils.com and it came off perfectly--shout out to Gary for the perfect quality. The lettering is a smidge off in terms of size, but not much of a worry for me as I'm fond of the way it came out. The kill markings got painted on too. Was worried how they would come out as they're a 3 piece stencil, 1st white, then the sunburst in red, then the circles in red, but they came out great. Still gotta do the white striping on top of the fuse now.

Luv yer hatch setup there. Didn't make any for mine as I knew access from behind was a problem---didn't think of making the plate removable [X(] like you've done so nicely there.

Winston,

Love your hatches. They look great and did I hear right you can take them out if there is a problem down the road? Here are some pictures of a cockpit made by Dynamic balsa for a 1/4 scale P-51. They are making my 1/4 scale Corsair cockpit. What do you guy's think and has anyone ever had any dealings with them. I think it is excellent detail work myself!

Barry,
Yes, dbalsa. Just down the road from me. There yesterday to pick up some canopy rail. Great people. I am using their cockpit in my GS corsair.

I've done 3 or 4 of the Dbalsa cockpits now Barry. They're my fave'--and agree with the above post....right in my back yard pretty much too. Got to spend a good deal of time with the Dbalsa crew at Toledo. Had a good time. I go nowhere else for cockpits now.

Thanks for the positive comments Bob--which plane do ya' mean as far as size??? Guess there were a couple in my cluttered work shop...the one most apparent is the Ziroli Hellcat....almost ready for paint--and--you guessed it--Dbalsa cockpit in that too.

Bob,

It's working here, I just downloaded one of Barry's cockpit pictures to try it.

Just one thing different and that's been since they went to the new picture format stuff. Click on the pic to enlarge it, then right click, select "save picture as", give it a name and location. If you don't first click on the picture to enlarge it, all you get saved is the thumbnail size picture...

cimara,

I didn't ask if they painted the cockpit or not. Maybe some of you guy's that have used them can answer this question for me. Otherwise I'll just call them tomorrow.

Thanks,

Wulf Marines dream, with that nose art who noticed the outher birds till you mentioned them

Zeeb Your method worked , so I am off and running.

Gibbs When we talked to them at Toledo, they will finish but there is a big $$$ diferance, and for my book I think I would want to do the painting just so I could claim it good or bad.
