Can anyone tell me if a Saito 150 would suitable for a model weighing in at 17LBs or should i go for the 180, Iv heard the 180 really drinks fuel , thats my dilema.

At 17 lbs if operating costs are of concern gas might be the better option.

Its not the operating cost that concerns me its duration, 17lbs would need 26cc and gas does run longer for sure . Four strokes have more torque and rev higher so would a saito work well with 17lbs?

Biggles,

I think the 1.50 would be under powered. I fly a 15 lb plane with a 1.80 and it is not over powered but flies well. If you want lots of snap and extra power move up from the 1.50.

I'm glad that I bought mine when they were $650. It wasn't that long ago either.

I'm thinning out my gassers, but that one stays. At least for a while longer. Sure is purdy.

I am selling a Saito 220 & 180 along with a saito 220 aluminum engine mount and a Tru Turn P-51 3" spinner. ALL FOR $500 OBO. These engines are in great running condition.

Ed your talkin about that oh so sweet fg 36. I am thinking about this engine for a RC Guys Decathlon. Would you recomend this motor. What kind of plane did you slap yours into. Also are you running pump gas or (high octane is this even possible or will it harm the motor?) very interestered in HEAR HEARING from you.

So far, Greg, the only running of the FG-36 that I have seen has been on You Tube. Health problems have kept me away from the garage test area and the flying field for a while. But, if you go to the You Tube site and click on videos, then type in FG-36, you can see several videos of this engine in action. I love the sound of it running and how low it idles.

After seeing the FG-36 powering a Hanger 9 Extra 260, I had to have one, so a sample of the Extra 260 is sitting NIB in the garage as I type.

Things have been improving somewhat over here lately, so I just might get this combo airborne this year. Take care.

Hey - Thanks for inviting me!
I love Saitos - they are as dependable as a Remington clock with Swiss timings. My hanger includes 30, 56, 72, 91, 100, 125 - best running engines I have ever had. Say - I am in the market for a used 182 twin - and a used radial. I bought the 33% Sukhoi (Hanger 9) from a club member - he had a DA100 twin - I would like to power it with a radial - suggestions? Do you think Saito will make a Gas Radial? Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants!

I wonder which engines share the same valve cover gasket size.
I imagine there is at least some overlap.
I find myself buy new gasket sets only for the valve cover gasket.
It'd be nice if one could buy spare just Rocker Arm Cover gaskets, as they call them.

Any ideas?

The Saito 45 MKII and "S" , 50,56,62,65,72,80,82,91,100,110,125,90T,100T,132T, 182T, 170R3,325R5 all use the same valve cover gaskets

Need help! Just got back from a month vacation and when I tried to fly my bird (.56 saito inverted engine) it took me a while before I was able to start it, I did primed it first before cranking it. Plus it seemed to be stuttering and smoke coming from inside the cowl [] and took around 20 mins before it was running okay. Before I left I cleaned and put in lots of after run oil in the cylinder head and the carb. I did set it plane right side up (engine inverted) on the rack. Could this have caused it to make such funny sounds and hard starting?

Is the cheapest way to get a set of valve cover gaskets for my 91 and 125 it appears.

The blue ones seem to be a lot more durable than the brown ones used on the 125.

Saves me a buck fifty everytime I need to replace. But probably saves more because they are the durable blue ones.

The next time you get a new gasket, run it through your combo printer/scanner/fax machine first. Print it out and then adjust for correct size. After that it should be simple to save that $1.50. Me, I don't use valve cover gaskets unless the engine is pressurized or has an oil line feeding back to the intake manifold. I don't think you're stupid, so don't think that. Sometimes simple things just get by us when busy in every day life. If you don't have a scanner, I'm sure another club member might let you use his, or even do it for you.
