RE: Yes or No. I am an AMA Member
clicked no, I have no local field or club, I would join if I were closer, there are a few other guys 30 miles away that fly, sometimes we get together and fly in a pasture, otherwise I fly alone. Still alot of fun! I have been toying with the idea to join the club that is 85 miles away just to go fly with some neighbors who have retired to that town, but Its not hardly worth the price for a couple times a year I would be there.

RE: Yes or No. I am an AMA Member
At one time I was an AMA member, however not any longer. I fear I may have to become agian a member, but last time around it was not a good experienc. In addition, I am an insured home owner which would cover anything long before I would have to tap AMA insurance.
It was required for flying at a club field, it was expensive, well over a $100 a year with AMA and club dues, field fees. It was a nice flying park but a lot of club politics and most every weekend was reserved for some kind of even. It was gated in and had restricted hours and I only ended up flying there a couple times. It didn't seem worth it at all and I became a renegade pilot. Now I am getting back into flying with much bigger plans and have moved to a different state, but I am pretty gun shy about joining any more clubs.
It's still a lot of money and I still don't want to play politics.

And thanks back to you for bumping Kid Epoxy's old thread, Frank. Bit of nostalgia there......near the last thread STLPilot posted in. Wonder if he's now posting on AMA's own forum like several others that have departed from this place(?).

Anyway, with abt 300 affirmative replies out of 4400 views, what do you make of the poll results so far?

WRT my thoughts on the poll, looks like we have had a great turnout. I appreciate folks taking the time to hit the yes or no option.

RE: Yes or No. I am an AMA Member
Cletus-
well, 350/4500 would sound about right for AMA members submitting ballots,
just look at the last couple ama elections
so, since we know only about 10% ama members bother to vote,
and only about 10% of the thread viewers bothered to vote
.... by transitive we know thread viewers = ama member jk
Cletus,
as Franks said,
it was his thread he resurrected from the 3 month stale last post
