RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Hi again gentleman. I'm getting close to breaking in my new 125 and I noticed some play (in and out) of the throttle barrel. I've read lots about Saito's having a spring in there engines and remember that the 125 does not have one. Should I be concerned with the play? Thanks

Get Parts for your Saito 50 from www.horizonhobby.com Many of the parts in a Saito 50 are common with a Saito 56

Good luck with your saito mikecam
I've seen bubbles coming back up the fuel line from the refuelling valve occasionally,once again not always,while the engine is running and thought the same.I bypassed it and the fuel filter too..same problem.It's the angle on the photo,the main needle is about 5mm away from the bolt head.The engine feels and sounds tight and sweet.Fuel cap problem?
Hobbsy i'd like to see your prop figures for a 62a.I'm running 10% nitro and all synthetic oil.Top rpm i can get with the 13x6 apc is 8500.
rlmcnii i think a soft mount is mandatory when you tune an engine like i do..

I just ran my 2nd .62 a few minutes ago.
Fuel===WildCat 15% with 18% all synthetic
Plug===Fox Miracle
Stock exhaust
Bolly 12.5x6==10,350 home grown for you OF
Graupner 12.5x6==9.950
APC 12x7=====9,950
The HS needle is about 1.75 turns out from bottomed out and will barely run at 3 turns out.
Pics with Graupner 12x7 and WildCat 15%/18% 80/20 lubd.

NO, none of my latest Saitos have the spring and none is needed.

What's the best prop 1.00 combo for Sport/Aerobatic flying as far as performance is concerned?

Yes,
But actually there are a lot of variables in propellers and personal openions and perceptions often effect propeller choice.
If you only come across a Master Air Screw Black 14-8 it will be OK.
The Windsor Scimitar is an excellent prop as well as others
Generally for sport use the JFZ Zinger wood props do not seem to run as well on the ground
Top Flite wood props do not pullas well on the ground as do APC props
Wood props do not idle as well because they weigh less

what is the difference between a wood propleller and a plastic propeller? what is better? also i have a saito fa 50 what size prop should i use it has an 11x7 prop on it. it is a trainer plane

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
There's not necessarily anything wrong with the prop you have on your plane.
The plastic props are more resistant to damage from ground strikes or hanger rash
The engine will idle lower with a plastic prop because it is heavier and offers more flywheel action
Plastic props are thinner and the engine turns up more rpm on the ground

That's the one Bob, my 1.00 may very well have one if yours does. My 2.20 and 1.25 do not have them. I'll check the 1.15.

Bob, where is it running rough, idle, mid or at full throttle. Normally a rough Saito or a thristy one is set too rich. A Saito will run so rich its scary then folks are afraid to lean it enough thinking they're leaning it too much

That would be me about leaning. I keep hearing about "running it too lean" and the consequences that could happen. I'll give it another go this weekend will try it leaner.

Bob, you don't need to worry too much about getting it too lean in the midrange because it will just quit. Peak the HS needle before doing any midrange leaning. That will help a lot. Peak it very slowly, sort of sneak up on it until it begins to slow slightly from being a little lean, then go back maybe one click on the rich side of the peak.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Some Saitos have a null or dead spot before you get it lean enough. My .72 fooled me until I went ahead and leaned it out another full turn or so. It would start to sag but wasn't putting out the power it should, so I kept on going until I got past that null spot.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I hate to ask a stupid question but here goes. I'm getting ready to fire up my 125. Manual says to add some ARO before first start up. I have read that dexron atf oil is good for that purpose. I have dexron lll, will that work or should i go buy regular dexron. Thanks

I don't think it will matter at all. The point is to have some kind of lubrication in the bearings and lower connecting rod during the first few rotations of the engine. What you have should work just fine.
Just don't be tempted to use WD40. It isn't a lubricant, but lots of folks think it is and then try to use it as one. Big mistake. You may know this, but others do not.
