Naaa it original all right
Comparing both carb. Noticed that when the barrel is completely open, or closed, no air gets by. It seems to work only when the barrel is beginning to open and is half open.

If it's a metered airbleed like many larger Enya carbs are - the airbleed is only a trim!. Not uncommon for a little tiny bit of air to get by the screw - but I wonder why you need the airbleed screw set that rich? Remember an airbleed trim works opposite as an idle needle valve works. Blocking the hole makes it richer. And yes, the airbleed hole is covered by the barrel as the barrel opens.

If spray bar isn't properly aligned across throttle opening can affect things. Also any air leaks in back plate, bolt on crank nose, carburetor base, etc. can affect things.

If the carb barrel doesn't move in and out it is a metered carb, this applies only to Enya's, Saito and OS both MFR small carbs that are not metered, like on the OS .26 and the Saito .30. In both cases they throttle cleanly. I guess being that small, the airfow velocity/fuel draw can do,the metering. That's only a guess.

The carb I pictured is from a .35 I think. The carb on my SS40 is larger all around and a bigger neck size as well as a metered idle circuit. I have three or four of the pictured carbs and none are metered. I'm guessing from some old cross scavenged .35s.

Just changed the carb and tomorrow will be flying day.... So I will be back with some news. By the way, it comes from a .40 X 6101. It is not leaking from any place at all. Used some water, soap and a hose to push some air in.. No bubbles . Just love Enya engines.. Have 15 of then hehehehe

If you engine runs too lean with the airbleed fully closed, it indicates an airleak somewhere else. Or a fuel-draw problem, perhaps a too low tank, etc.

I think I'm still holding steady at 13 Enya engines even though I am probably forgetting one or two.
(5) - 15-IVs (ferrous)
SS30bb (ferrous)
SS35bb (converted Heli engine, ringed)
SS40 (ferrous)
40CX (AAC)
.45 (twin ringed) (model 6001)
46-4C
60-4C
R120-4C

I've got an SS40. Sweetheart of an engine as is the SS30. The 40CX runs pretty nicely as well, but not a powerhouse. A tiny bit stronger than the SS30 and nearly the same power as the SS40.

There are four variations of the 2.40, no deal breaker differences.
Big Stick XL engine recommendations==55 to 61 cc, equaling 3.355 to 3.721 cubic inches.
Enya 240 displacement===2.488 cubic inches, it would be iffy in my opinion.
