That's what we're adding during our revamp of this cub... my bother inlaw got a used one off ebay that was in real nice condition, except the bearings we're rough (didn't use the proper after run oil) so he replaced the bearings

Re: Door / Window
Got my door handle under way... I'm going to get all the hardware ready before I finish cutting and re-enforing the door frame... I've got to figure out a way cut an opening in the base of those Cabin blocks, so I can slide those brass tabs up in place without having to cut the cabin blocks off and redoing them... probably solder some 4-40 nuts to the brass tabs and hopefully slide the tabs up in the slots and run the screws in through F-5 from the wing side... once I get past that hurdle I'll be good to go with the rest of the project... I think I can do it... if not, I'll be %$#$&*.

Oh Yeah, Paolo Severin's planes are nice... take a look at his 1/4 cub and 1/3 grasshopper... his kits are way too expensive though...

All this talk of cubs has inspired me to fix my lil cub. It's only a 1/6 sig, but fun to fly. Last summer it had, well, I'll call it a hard landing on the water. It ripped the struts out on one side of the wing, and broke apart the cabin top a bit. So today I took the floats off, re-installed the gear, and fixed the cabin top. Maybe tomorrow I'll dig in to the wing and get it all fixed up. I'm considering another 1/4 cub for my next build, only this time I would like to build the super cub.

They are the best and highly detailed at scale.

Yeah, I would be afraid to fly it... it would be one of the biggest static displays in my den, lol... his kits are like 2500 euro, at 1.3 usd to the euro, you're looking at 3300 usd, plus shipping, then all the time and extras to finish it off... might as well go buy the real deal, or at least a good down payment on one!

Nice !... that's pretty much what happen to me; saw all these nice flying 1/4 cubs, and got motivated and pulled ours out of retirement... I may be getting a bit too motivated though... got to reel myself in and realize, what goes up must come down (sometimes in a bad way) getting to anal, lol.

I was looking at that Sig 1/6 cub; super detail... not the easiest to build with all the bits & pieces and size, but it sure looks more scale like than the their 1/4 scale cub.

Flaps on the Super Cub, that would be one of the advantages to doing that build... I think I saw some youtube videos of the Aeroworks Sports Cub doing scale like Tundra STOL take off and landings... really neat!

Yeah John, the sig lil cub is soooo easy to build. A lot easier than you'd think. I was on the cub den website last night looking around. I was hoping to see a set of plans for the super cub, but didn't. I'm re thinking it. I really want to build from cub mans plans, but don't want to try to modify them into a super. I'm thinking just a plain ol J3. Just out of curiousity, besides flaps and cowl, what are the other differences in the super cub?

Robert, I think you and Vincent need to make your next build the Vogelsang's 133 Jungmeister and fly them in formation!

I got to admit I'm tempted by the Messerschmidt M35 but I don't have the coin or a place to build it. The Waco YMF-5 is gorgeous too!

the wing attach point and the hat section are different on the super cub, the number of ribs in the wing are different, the shape of the firewall and the shape of the tail feathers are different.

Besides the flaps and cowl .The Tail feathers on a super cub are more rounded .. The J 3 rudder is flat on the back and the super cub is rounded .. The front of the fuse on the super cub is a bit wider . , the dash on the super is flat on the top and the dash on the J3 is round . The firewall on the super cub is wider than J3 . The J3 is round on the top while the super cub is much flatter .so the windshields are a bit different . The Super Cub usually has quite a bit more horsepower too. There is probably a few more differences but that's a start

It might be easier/quicker to say what the J-3 Cub and the Super Cub have in common?

I have actually looked at that one a lot. A fella had a Jungmeister at my club and crashed it. He was heartbroken and said not again, then gave me his (Hostetler) plans. I have grown quite fond of bipes here of late but after this monster Pitts I may be taking a nice long break.

Gentle men, any cub kit/plans can easily be modified into a super. One just has to be willing to make the adjustments.

While I fully agree with what your saying, I don't know if I would do it justice at this point. I'm thinking, I'll get a set of plans for the J3 and build that. In the mean time, I'll do the necessary research to see EXACTLY what would need to be done to convert to a super. I want both, and I think it would be wise of me to first start out with an already proven winner rather than trying to change anything. But I WILL build the J3 next, that is after I finish up with the countless projects already in the works. Might be some time, just want to plan it right.thanks, Steve.

Guy's I'm working on a set of 1/3 scale plans. Have been working on them a couple years. Trying to balance family, work and hobby. From looking at full scale plans of both, It would probably be easier to list what is in common. I could probably spend a few hours on my 1/4 scale plans and change them to a supercub. Only issue is you would be a test subject on the build, and fitting the cowl and other parts.
