I just finished up attaching the ailerons to my 1/5th SIG. What a PITA they are, they go into the skin of the wing and aileron, and if you dont have it just right you can go through the skin. My Power slitter doesn't work for them and I dont have "hinge" knives, so it took much longer to get them done, but they look good. Finishing up the painting and have to pick up one more servo, and the wings are done. Still have the cowl, doors and linkages to do, then I can put in the windows, paint the struts and is ready to balance and fly.

Didn't you get my memo Ace.... 1/3 scale it is.... the scale details will come out much nicer...for the power plant a rotomotor fs-170 fourstroke... maybe a bit too much engine??... then a roto 85 FS-NG,... no !!...ok at least a OS FF-320, or FT-300.

How do you get in the Cub hood?
Sig 1/4 CW with fabric covering and PPG auto paint. I sure miss the ol gal. Some lucky dude talked me into selling it at Perry last year. Trying to decide if I want another 1/4 scale or just settle for the Sig 1/5. I really want to build a 1/3 CW in the Harold Krier scheme.

You'll be initiated into the brotherhood shortly, Cub_Man will come along and assign you a number.
Did I tell you about the initiation fee??........ one fully assembled 1/3 scale CW Cub done in the Harold Krier scheme

Someone's feeling there oats tonight. Tell ya what John, I'll send ya the 1/4 scale plans and if you send them back in 1/3 scale you'll have yourself a deal. One 1/3 scale L4 with a Kolm or maybe a Saito 57cc twin FS.

I finished a Nelitz 1/3 CW Taylorcraft (custom build) my way earlier this year. Beautiful flying bird. I have also built a Goldberg J3 and a Patrik SC. I have owned and flown a BUSA 1/3 J3. I always part with the cubs because I get bored to quickly with them and keep everything else.
After many hours of Cub study and knowing how well the T craft wing flies I am considering the idea of the Nelitz T craft clipped wing on the Nelitz Cub fuselage and PA18 tail and cowling to replicate Kriers Cub. That would be the best of both worlds and it would not be a prune in the performance arena. At this point I have not found anyone who has attempted such a bashing but the only real big change is very slight which is the air foil. Of course some beefing here and there for the big gas twin up front. I did all that already on the T craft. It is holding up just fine @ 27 pounds and accelerates vertically.
I just love the old high wing rag planes but as models they suffer badly in the way they fly which is why I try to keep the original lines but build them with modern technology. I think my idea will work.
Oh well cant wait to get my new Cub Brotherhood number and be a part of the group. I have read most of the forum here and you guys have built some really nice cubs. Here is a pic of Kriers CW

I'll redraw those plans to 1/3 scale Ace if you don't mind a bunch of coffee rings and mustard smudges... I guess the easiest way would be to take them to a blue print printer and have them scanned and blown up to 1/3 scale... better yet, if you can get CM to put them in pdf format, then most print shops can rescale them... but if you have to build it 1/4 scale, put a GF 40, saito FG40 or equivalent 4 stroke on it, or I may look over my shoulder at a VV40 Twin.

For anyone interested. I just started a build thread on a Wendell Hostetler Piper PA-15 Vagabond Cub

The Piper Vagabond was another great little plane... I'll keep an eye on that build as well... looks like we have some nice builds going on this winter.
I had an 0.20 sized Vagabone years ago, but was short lived due to a dirt road a an old stake side flatbed truck... it was a 2 channel with s20 servos... a bit under powered for the weight, but it flew well if you were gentle with it; until a gust of wind blew it under that truck... nothing like an "RC" road kill to ruin your day.

Very good! One would think with as many brothers as there is the site would be paid up for several years. Shoot I'm broke and I gave 20 bucks.

Most here know me and know I only posted my donation to hopefully incite others to as well. The last time we ponied up it covered two+ years and would love to see the same, maybe more. Cubmans site is one of the few left that provide an invaluable volume of info. Plus, everything he makes, designs, draws, for sale is absolutely the best. I have his newly drawn L4 plans currently and there is nothing close to the scale and detail he puts into his work. Just wanna insure he stays at it. If I offended thee, or anyone else, my apologies.

Thanks Robert and all who donate. Granted I could close it down the next time it is due but as Robert said its one og a few pages still around. Although I started it it's open to everyone. If you have a good how to or project all you need is to email me the info to get it posted. Robert thanks for the kind words on my plans. Being a scale nut that is why the super cub set is taking so long. I look forward to the day of offering short kits as well.
My my site is thru godaddy and love the service and support they give. I know of very few times that it has been down. $84 for server space and $14 for the name is not much a year for having a website up and running. Wish they would give discounts to existing customers.
Guys us I have sold 7 shirts and need to sale 13 more before I can order them.

Misha034- nice Cub!
$98 for web site divided by 237 members is $0.41 each. I put up $20 so that takes it down to $0.33 each member could dole out. C'mon Brothers... what's a-holdin ya back?

I remounted the 70, took some measurements, then mounted the 100 and took measurements. The difference between the two for the cowl opening is just a few millimeters. Looks like the only tricky part will be getting the cowl over the engine, so going to stick with the 100 in the horizontal position. At least this way the engine will stay cool, and not have to worry about cutting up the cowl for cooling like I would with it inverted. Only the crankcase would be in the cowl, most of the cylinder would be exposed. Now if it were a Twin, it would look awesome.
