I have not flown for about 2 years and have just joined the local RC club. I have asked for and hope to get help getting it back up again. even though I expect that the planes I will fly are still in trim. May I suggest a buddy box approach or someone to get the plane up and trim it out before you take it over? Planes severely out of trim are difficult if not impossible to fly, even for accomplished pilots. Good luck
Sincerely, Richard

Wing stuff
I've been working on my wing, slowly but I'm getting there. I added some bracing, and I changed the wing tips some.
I put some diagonal bracing in the wing to fight some of the twistyness of the wing. I had to put holes through the shear-webs to get the braces in. The wing probably doesn't need any extra bracing, but I wanted to do it. The bad thing is when it's covered no-one will ever see it. It surprisingly did not seem to make a difference.
I put the wing tips on backwards and flat with the table. I may put a rib in the tip, maybe not. I have to see how the silk will drape across the tip after I get it all sanded. The tips may not appeal to most, but I thought the stock tips too modern looking.
I need to sheet the center section then join the wing together yet, snow blowing is getting old real quickly..

Looking good Rich. Everyone has different taste and opinions about how a Kadet should look. I wish I had thought of the leading edge ribs when I built mine. Instead I sheeted the leading edge with poster board to smooth out that bump at the top main spar. As far a twist goes, don't worry about it, you will be amazed at how rigid things become when you get covering on it.

That is similar to the way Bruce Tharpe has the wingtips installed on the Venture 60. He also adds a triangle shaped piece of 1/4" balsa laying flat at the trailing edge that is sanded to conform to the rib and feather out to the edge of the tip.

I am with Mike on that. And I am sure it applies to a great many other designs. Some obvious, some not.
I bought a Stick 40 arf and bashed it into a low wing tail dragger, twin OS .25s for power. It sure was entertaining.

Center section question.
Is the bottom of the center section of the wing not sheeted?
I'm close to having the tips done. The Ambroid glue looks sloppy, but that's the way you use it, it makes the contact patch much bigger. My daughter ran her OLY II into a fence once and wiped out 8" of the wing back to the spar. Not one glue joint failed when it hit the fence post, the ribs where all pulverized, but all the glue joints held.

Hi Guys,
Finished and test flew my Senorita yesterday. Everything went well and the airplane flew as expected. As I'm flying it I have to keep
reminding myself that it's a Putt Putt 4 stroke airplane. It doesn't like inverted flight and requires full down elevator to maintain altitude.
Had a really nice day yesterday in Georgia. It was 55 with a 5 MPH wind out of the South. This was a good project for me and I enjoyed
building this airplane. My next project will be a 1/3 size Flybaby.

Hey Larry! Congrats on the successful maiden, well done!! I'm loving that pull-pull rudder set-up - VERY clean looking.
Rich, the wingtips look good. Yeah, the Kadet's one of the most "bashable" plane designs ever made - they're great. Nice to see another Ambroid lover too.
Well guys, if all goes according to plan today I will have 4 test-flights. None SIG though. 3 CG planes (rebuilt Sr. Falcon, rebuilt Eaglet, restored Gentle Lady) and the rebuilt/recreated AFI Super Monterey glider. All winter restoration projects.

Almost done with the wing.
I'm getting closer to finishing the wing. I sheeted the bottom after I put shear-webs on the dihedral braces, and put in the last two pieces of diagonal bracing. I added some G10 where the wing hold down bolts will go. Tomorrow I'll glass the wing top and bottom.

I found this Brotherhood thread by accident. I started reading thru the pages, but not all the pages just too many, and started getting interested in the Kadet. A member posted the plans and now I have something to work with. I hope to start building one soon. I started my return to RC last June. I have a plans built Ugly Stik almost completed. I set it aside when I saw the SPAD plastic planes and decided to build one as my re-entry trainer. I manged to fly the SPAD one rectangular pattern before I stalled it and crashed. I have it almost rebuilt, just need to finish the new wing and will give it another go.
Once I clear the building board, I will start on the Kadet. Maybe some day I will ask to join the Brotherhood.

Hello all, new to the forum and site and thought i would show off my kadets. left is a sr that i got 15 years ago rtf with a k&b .61. She was crashed with repairs started back then but put away un finished. I pulled her out last month to finish repairs and auction off.................. but as my first love she spoke to me and i decided to get back into the hobby instead. The middle is an LT.40 on floats with a saito .91 that i just added to the fold ,from the previous mentioned auction. On the right is the senorita that my brother built years ago, she has been retired and become a static display. Not pictured is a kadet that is currently being built. My younger brother brother ,the owner of the senorita and the partial built kadet, passed away 13 years ago leaving my sr partially repaired and the started kadet kit lonesome. The senorita he built as his first, pretty much to plan , 3 channel and a os max .25 for power. I had to re-install the servos and mounts in the sr. , due to the crash the cabin walls broke loose and tossed the servos, the wing has strip ailerons that i have cut 40/60 to use the smaller inboard sections as flaps. The addition of flaps was a result of the crash, even with the engine at idle on landing full up elevator was needed with at least 3 circles of the field to get her down and slow enough to counter act ground effect. I hope to be repairing the covering within a week or two with a re-maiden flight sometime this spring with a new lee custom .61 and three bladed prop. As i progress i will keep everyone posted. The wings are l-r senorita,LT-40 and SR.

ET & bushman - always glad to see more Kadet fans around here. It's fun seeing 3 different sizes of the same plane, definitely cool. ET, whenever you're ready just say so. We're here.

I'm planning to put one of the Evolution gas engines on my Kadet LT40 but can't decide between the 10cc & 15cc engines. I really want this plane to have a little more power than the stock glow setup and will use it as a sporty flyer. Does anyone have any thoughts on either of these engines on this plane?
