yeah, but 99% of them are never going to see 90mph and the only cornering they are going to do is the freeway on ramp and off ramp.
99% of the cars ever produced lived such a life, your argument is invalid.
why do you post without adding to the subject but you only "correct" people? its not very nice.

considering i was talking about corvettes and high end sports cars and hell lets throw exotics in there to, the argument is valid.  if i had been talking about econoboxes with no race track reputation or legacy to uphold, and no soul then it would be invalid

Well, to me, I don't pass on judgment to others.. don't really care about how they use their cars.. if they want to park them in their living rooms and admire the cars as art.. so be it.. but I know how I will use mine..

ORIGINAL: suburban_hooligan

people that buy cars as status symbols aren't worthy of a bus pass. and if you want to reward yourself with a performance car. USE IT! get your moneys worth out of it man

Use to own and would love to get my hands on a 79 - 85 RX7. I love those cars and the sound of the Rotary engine. Especially when its ported,
Fun cars. Buddy has an '84 with a ported EFI 13b making about 180 hp (and like 4 lb ft of torque, LOL)
Thing's quick

the modern vettes are so boring and bland that they blend into parking lots like a honda civic. they do have good performance spec's. just to bad said performance never gets used. as far as quality goes no one really knows how well they're made. everybody baby's them. nobody really thrashes them and puts them through the paces.
ThunderbirdJunkie's 75 year old grampa has a 6 speed '09 that gets run hard.

didnt you say "its a speed EIGHT and its a engine not a car." it just seems you go on here to point out stuff to make people feel dumb without contributing to the thread.

anyway, the future is looking bleak from what ive seen at the auto show, lots of hybrid/electric concepts, but product lines are fewer and cars are starting to all blend together.

im waiting for more diesles to come out to the US. its hybrid economy and gasoline proformance, plus you dont need a bunch of wacked out voltage systems. but i think it spooks the us out because there are few deisle mechanics here.

If I were you, I would take someone correcting me as an opportunity to update my knowledge. Considering, you know, that's the point of correction.

yeah diesel does do some impressive things. plus there's the bio diesel alternative for fuel, or even natural gas.
but with hybrids being a big seller imsurprised we haven't seen adiesel electric hybrid. the technology is only 70 years old. its about time somebody put it into a car. i bet that would easily get 100mpg plus and have better performance than a stinking prius

Buy a small light car like my MG, original Mini/Fiat 500 or a Miata...Then you can drive them hard while still driving (mostly) completely legally. Small cars sporty are great because they're low to the ground and have pretty good handling which makes them feel fast, even if they're not. I read an article about this in an issue of Car and Driver I think.

One of my current favorites is the Bentley Brooklands, absolutely gorgeous car. I had the luxury of driving one for a short while while I was in Dubai, really nice. Not particularly practical, it's incredibly heavy and drinks gas like no ones business, but it's impressive to drive and the interior finish is stunning.

As for a car within my reach and far more practical, I like the current model E63 AMG

The Bentley and any Corvette made after 1980 is as ugly as a home made shoe.

So a '79 Corvette is ugly, but an '81 isn't?
Interesting.

ITBJHO, the C6 Corvette is the second best looking Corvette in history. First, obviously, being the C2.

that is true, although i feel like i am going slower in a little car. my little miata is pretty peppy and still get 30mpg around town. only i wish i could fit more than my work boots in the trunk

I like the E63.. but if I were to get a MB, I'd get a C63.. smallest car w/ the biggest engine.. LOL!

Will wait for them to put the wet-clutch tranny in the C63 first, though.. ha!

It may be a poor mans BMW but the styling is real nice. Decent performer for the price too.

Eh, it's overweight for its size, and gets stomped by 370Zs and Mustangs for cheaper.

You guys realize that the '11 Mustang V6 will be running THIRTEENS in the quarter for 22 grand?

Wow, people usually laugh when I say that. Always wanted one or both myself. I also love the Buick Grand National, but those are harder to come by than a C4 or fox body. Finding a decent one for a price that isn't near that of a new car is hard. Actually, the earlier comment about there being no good American cars after a certain date is one I've heard a lot, but most people forget about the Grand National. Granted, it was just one model and wasn't made that long, which is usually why people don't mention it.
