aluminum caps will be better because they wont pop off like the plastic ones. You can't really afford a pop off in a race.

IMO, it depends on the track somewhat.  If you're driving on a supercross-style track, yeah, maybe the aluminum caps pay off, but on our local 1/8th and 1/10th friendly offroad track, nobody blew off a cap that I know of all last season.  The jumps just aren't that high or harsh, so the shocks never take the kind of jolt that pops the cap, unless you do something like run 80wt oil.

Aluminum shock caps are an absolute must have. I popped the plastic one off 3/4 threw my first practice lap with a brand new Slash.

Hey Guys,

Its me again. What is a good motor to get for the slash? The Slash is my wife's truck, and she burnt up the 550 Titan 12T in, and I am almost positive of it. What would be a good motor to get? I was looking at getting her a [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHUH8&P=7]Venom Fireball 13T Double Motor[/link] because its cheap and its rebuildable. I can not afford to go brushless or else I would.

I hoping that will be a good motor for the truck, please let me know as i want to confirm this before I order it.

Thanks

For stock class you can use the included larger pinion but the spur must be stock. The shock oil weights Ive heard are 50wt in the fronts and 60wt in the rear. Also move the tie rod to the higher hole in the rear (may requir some minor Dremmel action).

No racing, pure front yard bashing thats it. Nothing more.

After some quick searching, the stock is still one of the least expensive out there.

And the Venom is 17.49 and rebuildable once it goes bad, the Titan 12T is not, so I would have to buy it again.

Has anyone tried a ball diff in their slash? If so how long do they last before you need to rebuild?

Ihaven't personaly used them but 2 of my friends have had them in their's. They lasted about 1 night of racing. They were very disappointed in them, considering the price of the unit......

Ive yet to have any problem with the stock shock caps, and have done some pretty extreme racing.  Ran over 30 packs through it so far no problems yet (knocks on wood)

Nice.

I wanted more clarity so I hacked the window of a stock slash body.

Yeah, when my shell started getting scratched up I hacked mine too.

That's how my cam got ejected thru the winshield and morphed into a MarshalCam...

LOL! that's great I guess you can't expect a corner marshall to turn anything right side up on the first try.

I got the same audio on mine.. so I added music.
next time out i'll set the camera volume on low.

I noticed the lo volume setting for the audio pickup, can't seem to work the menu to change it. I want to try the AudioSwap feature on YouTube but all I get are error messages... I have to be careful with the copyright thing, don't want to invite trouble.

The pick up from the Race Director is what I like the most, hearing them call the races adds to it I think. Same wiht tmy action footage with the regular cam - can't get that nuance at a nitro race.

Anybody have an old stock slash body or a beater Slash body that they could get rid of cheap. I'm looking for one.
