RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
are these the slash purpose bug bodies or the ones pro-line came out with a while ago?
what do you guys think about running losi eight shocks in the back and revo shocks in the front? also i was thinking about installing a tekin redline motor when i get mine. think this is a good idea or should i stick to the gobs of torque the vxl offers? i could always upgrade later i guess.
also, anyone every had customwww.jdcarbon.com/ pins and turnbuckles made? it sounds super solid but it might be costly. i was just wonder what you paid for them, cuz they are definatly strong enough
(yes there is one of their carbon pins holding those two a-arms together while suspending a man and a punching bag)

7.2V 6 cell and 8.4v 7 cell question
Going to race stock class. Can't run lipo. I am currently running a 7.2v 3300mah battery. Rules state I can run up to a 8.4v 7 cell...up to 4600mah (I believe or maybe 5000, I will have to check). Anyway my question is....for the money to change to this battery is it noticeable on speed? If so...about how much faster? or will I just get an extended run time?
Thanks
Chris

with the 8.4v 4600 or 5000 you will notice quite a bit of power compared to the 7.2 also longer run times.

you will notice the difference using a 7cell over the 6. easier to clear jumps and faster in the straights just need to watch your throttle in and out of the corners. they seem to give a bit longer run time too. I have 6 and 7 cell 4600's and the 7's do run quite a bit longer and seem to keep the charge right up to just before they die, unlike my 6's that show fatigue before they die. if they allow you to run the 7 cells do it.

I would pass on the servo guard but it depends on where you run and bash. Yes the RPM front and rear skid plates are worth the money, the front will help keep the steering assembly from popping out. I would also add bearings to the steering assembly it helps smooth the steering out a lot. I would not start upgrading till things start to break. The front RPM skid plate I would change tho.

Hello all.....
I just bought myself a slash 2 days ago, and I am awaiting it's arrival. I can't wait. I have already read all 62 pages on this forum...which is alot easier than the 600 pages I had to read when I had my Evader! Holy smokes.
Anyway 2 questions....Is it important to purchase a servo guard for the bottom of the chassis? or is this a waste of $$? Having the servo gear sit out in the open kinda bothers me...but then again so does a piece of alumin. bolted to the bottom of the skid, just waiting to catch something and rip it off the body. I plan on backyard, backwoods bashing, also plan on keeping it stock at the moment. Second question is are the rpm front and rear skid plates worth the $$.
Thanks guys, the reading has been great thus far. I will post pics when I get it.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Ok so after a week of dealing with a wobbly spur gear I finally have found the cause. Last night I open up the tranny case replaced the drive rod (the rod that the spur geat mounts on), drive gear and both bearings that it sits in. Get it back together, put a brand new spur gear on and sure enough it still wobbles. So I open another new spur gear and lay it on a glass table and start tapping the edges lightly, what I found was that the Traxxas spur gears themselves are actually lopsided.
Has anyone else encountered this or have a solution for it?

I'll second the Pro-match batteries. I have a set of two new 30C batteries I use in my 1/8th scale buggy conversion, and a set of the 25C packs I bought last year that get run in my Slash and 1/10th 4wd buggy. We run 8 minute electric mains and I have plenty of power left even with several minutes of practice laps before the race. Best bang for the buck out there, IMO.

I made a DIY light bar out of a 3/8" U frame bar. Plus a few washers and nuts all for less than $5 at my local hardware shop. It's super strong and the lights can easily fold around the bar in the event of a rollover (believe me it worked!)

Hey does anyone know if the Pro-line Badlands 2.2 will fit on the Epic bead locks? I hope so, those tires rock and now I want better tires for my slash and the track where im at badlands are needed. Or is there any similar tire that any one can recommend for a very dusty and rocky track ( I am in Afghanistan after all). Thanks guys!!!
Nice light rack there intimidator_md great idea!

I think the 2.2 badlands would rub the body pretty badly unless you have the Proline VW Bug body. or something with open fenders.
