RE: C-Arf SF 260 TP build thread
All ready to rumble...
The CG is set at 1/4" aft of the main spar LE!
Turbine all tested
Glider tow release installed under the canopy so here it will
not interfere with any of the nice lines of the turtledeck or the ftont of the fin!
Istill need to mill a wide slot in the lower aft of the canopy frame to
accomodate the tow line!
Now just need some good weather
standby for the maiden video!!!

Ifinalized the glider tow system
it is simple withthealu release from"IFlyTailies"
and a122 in/oz servo. Imilled a port on the rear of the canopy deck
that will allow for a wide variety of towline angles.. should work fine

RE: C-Arf SF 260 TP build thread
I recieved an update on the latest CG recommendation info for my plane.
It is 90mm from the LE at the wingtip. This translates into 8 mm in front of the top
of the wing spar so I corrected mine. I made 2 jigs that allowed me to hoist the plane
from my cieling with the fulcrum point at the specified dimension.. all I had to do was relocate
my 2 Duralite EXB batteries a little to achieve this... all done now

RE: C-Arf SF 260 TP build thread
On a sad note I ran my TP again today and tested the smoke system...
WOW it works great BUT covers my wings, fuse sides and horizontal tail
with smoke oil... I might have to rethink using that system...
always challenges in this hobby!!!

Subscribed, thanks for sharing! Great info! I will be ordering up mine within the week for the DA120 in the Yellow checker scheme. Plan to do another assembly thread, but will post on another site (FG). Looking forward to seeing some video. Take care and all the best.

Thanks, there is one of these flying close to me up at the Farview Flyers field in Hamburg Pa. ( http://www.farviewflyers.net/) It also has a 120 in it. The pilot reports that it is now
his favorite plane!! It does have generous control surfaces and quite a large wing +it is not heavy so it should fly and climb great. Mine is ready except for the addition of the wheelbrake kit
but that should only take a few hours to install.. I'm looking forward to spring to get the maiden done...

Hope you don't mind me posting a picture. I got my SF-260 in today and very happy. Everything arrived undamaged for a change, so that is a good start! Very good looking airplane and looking forward to the assembly. Need to finish up a couple of items on a customers airplane before shipment, and I can get started on it while I also get started on a Petrausch Modellbau FW-190 for a customer. Landing gear, pneumatic kit and wheel brake kit arrived a couple of days before the airframe, so just need the DA 120 and we are ready to go. I will get a assembly thread started, but not sure if I will do it here or on another site (FG).
Looking forward to seeing some video of your airplane! Take care and all the best.

RE: C-Arf SF 260 TP build thread
Hey feel free to post what you want here. Ithink the SF260 will be a really good plane
no matter what it's powered with. Iam just about to install my wheel; brake kit but
discovered that the wheels need to have a flat spot machined on the hubs
to form a flat gluing surface for the rubber brake disc.
Ihave an early kit so my wheels arrived without this feature. Imade up a tool
that will fit into my drill press and enable me to grind (actually sand)a nice flat spot
just a tiny bit larger than the ODof the pads. If you look closely
at the instructions that come with the brake kit ORon the .pdf online...
you can see the flat spot that was machined to accept the pad.
Hopefully C-Arf will start doing this for future shipments. Idon't think the brakes will work that great
if the rubber pad is not dead flat!
P.S Iwent 1 size smaller with my main wheels since the one supplied JUSTfit into the wells in the wing. Idon't think 1/2"smaller
will affect anything
Good luck with your plane as well...

Thanks, I really like the looks of the airplane and really looking forward to the assembly. The newest version of the landing gear are coming with the flat spot machined into the hubs and the anti rotation pin hole in the landing gear. Picture of the hub machined. You are correct, the fit is a little tight with the stock tires into the wheel well. Take care.

Hello everyone, I'm thinking of getting this beautiful plane, but I'm not sure that it'll fit my car! I could not find any exact dimensions of the model, can please someone help me?
Can you please measure the widest place of the fuselage and the hight of the tail, both marked on the picture,
Best wishes with your builds!

Kirill,
I have one of the kits in stock ( in a really nice special order colour scheme ) , so if you want to have a look at it, touch it, smell it Then feel free to come in. Be quick though. I have a feeling that it won't be for much longer.
Oh, and by the way. I have you books into the jet meet that you asked me about.
Regards Al

RE: C-Arf SF 260 TP build thread
finally managed to get time to slot my new toy together before the builders come to collect it today. Not wanting to be conventional ( as normal) I went for a custom scheme. It was a bit of a gamble but I am delighted with how its worked out on the model, and can't wait to see it in the air. Thanks again to C-arf for their superb work in delivering exactly what I was hoping for.
The moment I saw the first 260 at Joe Nall last year, I just knew I had to have one, and ideally it had to have a Turboprop up the front. Subsequently the guys at C-arf have made the turboprop specific model that as per the full size has a different cowling and spinner. Personally I have always preferred the non turboprop front end looks wise. So now comes the calling of seeing if my builders can modify the front end of my model to accept a Jet Cat STP-5. I will go with the Tucano style exhausts as per Geh3 as I prefer the look of these as well.
Wish us luck, and I will keep you updated with how we progress. For now, a few photos of my new toy!

RE: C-Arf SF 260 TP build thread
I almost bought this version to mount my Wren 54TP as well, but I liked the red color so went with the Carf supplied TP version. It is definetly possible to put a TP in this version however it will take some modifications to the front fuse area. For the Wren, this would be easy since it mounts
on a central and balanced radial mount with 6 bolts. The JC will be a bit trickier since it has rail AND front mounts but is still possible to do..just requires a bit of extra engineering to get it to be sturdy and tidy. If you look earlier in this post you can see how I did the Wren. One nice thing is thatthe firewall already has the proper right thrust built in. On my install, I left the front LG door off and cut the top of the front wheel well off to allow intake air to the TP. On your version the intake of the TP will be inside the front of the fuse so you might have to make similar arrangements. Good luck with your project. I suspect we will be seeing a lot of these in the skies soon!
P.S talk to Mike Murphy @ Wren, perhaps he can supply you with a 54TP... much easier to mount, all you need is to fab a ring and attach it (see pic )
to the sturdy front fuse at the correct distance and angle!!!
